My freind is back from Korea; he is teaching English there and will be returning soon.
Dog eating. They eat them in Korea. They sell them everywhere. Mostly big brown dogs they keep in small cages and treat horribly. Victor ate it 3 times so far; he's been there a year. Its not that great mostly. But it can be done well. Anyway, his students' parents brought it for him and he couldn't refuse. The dogs they eat look just like my dog!
So in Korea, nearly all animals are gone. Wild ones are incredibly rare. They ate them all. Apparently food is a big issue in Korea, as in there isn't much. No foreign food is allowed and rice cost 8 dollars a pound. Beef costs about 25 dollars a pound and is terrible.
So I am repulsed and at the same time understanding, I guess. Koreans think we are crazy to think dog eating is bad. Gweneth Paltrow is trying to stop dog eating, but there is no way its gonna stop. Koreans apparently love it.
Poor Korea always got conquered and no wonder they ate their doggies. When the Japanese invaded Korea they killed all the native Korean dogs in an attempt to absorb Korea into Japan. One of these dogs the Sapsaree is very rare now and is being saved by dog loving Koreans. The Sapsaree is a "Demon chasing" dog and guards temples and Korean Emperors from Demons. They are 40 pounds, blue or tan, do not shed and I want to get a pair! Here is the site about them...
