Is there any American living who could challenge * & not be slimed?
After seeing Cindy Sheehan get swiftboated all weekend long by "military families" in the Seattle Times' LTTEs, I want to know:

Is there ANYONE american living who could question the wisdom of the Iraq War & get flag-waving, "patriotic" americans to question their assumptions & this president's administration & actually THINK beyond black & white sloganeering?

Certainly not me. I never served in the military, nor did i even consider it for one second. Immediately invalidated.

Hell, if Rush Limbaugh had an attack of conscience, found Jesus, & renounced all his propaganda of the last 20 years, he wouldn't be enough. He'd get tarred with his drug use.

Who could make America care? I submit: NO ONE.

1. Cindy's own words:
"Why do the right wing media so assiduously scrutinize the words of a grief filled mother and ignore the words of a lying president?"

2. No, and that is a key point to acknowledge
before someone runs against the neocons. Slime their tactics before you get started. Come out with a behavioral prediction, push that message hard as an "I told you so" theme as foreplay.

3. Jesus could return and quote scripture to them
and they'd still find ways to trample him in the dirt.

4. A redeemer might...
...the last being Jesus: a teacher and prophet born in Bethlehem and active in Nazareth; his life and sermons form the basis for Christianity (circa 4 BC - AD 29).

But then look at what the Pharisees of Israel, the Roman prefects and the masses did to Jesus and his followers.

11. but short of the second coming, no one is invulnerable
i consider MLK & Ghandhi to have the same moral authority as Jesus in this matter, but they, too are DEAD.

6. Hagel has been doing some rumbling, but I question his agenda...
considering that he has 2008 ambitions. What does the other side have to say with Hagel recent comments?

7. We'll
find out shortly....

Lott did a pretty good job on MTP yesterday.

Maybe Cheney or Condi? Not that they would, but they could attack *, can't figure out why they would do it though.

9. Cheney, his mother, his Dad
His brother. Not because they wouldn't dare but because it would be too numbingly absurd and counterproductive, like Bush attacking himself and being slimed for defaming the "President". It is that crazy now, but to make it perfectly obvious you need the impossible spinning a 360. David Brooks got away with a lot because to attack him too openly would be to expose themselves and Brooks' revelations even more in the context of a conservative journalist who knows the game all too well.

Actually it is slime by degrees of successful bullying or flat silence. Sometimes Rove has a slow day or sometimes they calculate the slime is costly and unnecessary. The smaller you are or the higher up in the Democratic party, the more you get it, even as sport.

And Rush wouldn't be slimed until AFTER they let slip the drug police on him. Every dog on the Right talk food chain is vulnerable. Gotta have that kind of control and shared character. Loyalty and ideology doesn't cut it enough. The sins of a bartered soul have to be dragged around in the chains.

The excessive use of slime now is a blunt lightning bolt from entrenched Olympus more than an effective tactic. it is the indulgence of power with an irritable flareup at having to refight victories over truth. Testy arrogance more than self-righteousness. A denied background of fear too masked as anger, as always.

12. Even Clinton won't criticize directly.
out of respect for the office.

but if a willfully ignorant sociopathic narcissist can do the job of president, why SHOULD anyone respect the office?

at least with a parliamentary democracy, the PM can't HIDE from every other member of the government. what i wouldn't give to see * take Blair's place in the House of Commons for one Question Time.

10. The slime-merchants have NEVER been held accountable
because the public is convinced that it (the sliming) doesn't affect them in the least.

13. Rove. I'm not sure Bush would be as good at slimeing him as Rove is
at slimeing everyone else.

I think Rove would slime Poppy Bush but not Babs. He's scared of her.

15. No - because sociopaths always attack someone's strengths.
Kerry the war wimp - Dean the straight populist - Cindy the thinking woman with feelings - all of somebody's strengths are attacked when sociopaths slime.
