Man Dies In Attempt To Prevent Gas Theft

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (AP) -- A gas station owner was run over and killed when he tried to stop a driver from leaving without paying for $52 worth of gasoline, police said.

The driver had not been apprehended Sunday, and police Chief David Walker said the case was being investigated as a robbery-homicide.

Witnesses told police that Husain Caddi, owner of Fort Payne Texaco, "grabbed onto the vehicle" Friday when the driver began to drive off.

Poor man. What a way to die. And all those people didn't catch a plate number or be able to ID a vehicle/driver? Yeah. Not sure I would have hung onto the bumper though.

where I'm at. Sunday they were at $2.59. Since I drive so little, the last time I filled up was...the end of June? Now I wish I kept a log book with prices, dates, and mileage instead of just figuring mileage per tankful.

description of the vehicle (IIRC, 22" rims, spinners, tinted windows, etc.,) as well as a plate number. I think they'll find him pretty quickly.

We are quickly heading back to the days when customers will be greeted by a shotgun at the pumps. Long live the Wild West, thanks to blivet**. The next run will be on locking gas caps just like in the '70's, when you had to guard your vehicle at night to keep your gas from being stolen too.

When citizens are being killed for a tank of gas, imagine what it is going to be like when we start fighting in the streets for a loaf of $5 bread!

It is a trend not yet sure.. Bottom Line he was killed for attempting to stop someone that stole gasoline.....
I know that the numbers of Drive offs will increase, I know that crimes may be committed besides that the attempted theft of gas...
And there will be injuries from it....

Floods start with one drop, don't they? I am saying, right now, that crime will begin to increase as the monetary noose gets tighter. I lived through the 60's and 70's where meat was priced out of the main stream families grasp and gas and heating fuels were out of sight as well. As money gets tighter, more small, local crimes will take place and along with those small crimes comes the violence of desperate people.

The true class war for which blivet** has been working for all his life. I bet no one will pay too much attention until a violent crime is done to one of the chosen "have-mores".

We need to pay attention to these local crimes and make sure that they don't go unnoticed.
