In The Bush Pro-War Speech Today: Iraq/ WWII/Iraq/Sept.11/Iraq/Al Q
Pulease....:eyes:

<snip>

Senior aides say Bush will attempt to portray the Iraq conflict in the context of long wars like World War II, which US forces fought from 1941 to 1945.

They said the president also will invoke the September 11, 2001, attacks, arguing once again that the insurgents battling American troops in Iraq share the same ideology as the Al Qaeda operatives who crashed hijacked jetliners into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field.

1. Iraq sell out
An article from Reuters on Yahoo! News today (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050820/ts_nm/iraq_dc) describes yet another failure of this administration in Iraq. The administration is conceding to the Shi'ite Islamist-led government to have the Iraq Constitution declare Islam the "main source of law" , not just a source, making Iraq another fundamentalist Islamic State. Originally, we were told by Bush this was a war to spread democracy in the Middle East, and now just another extreme Theocracy; a dictatorship all the same.
So, first a war that was to stop the development of weapons of mass destruction just to learn there were none, and now the establishment of a Democracy that now will be like the Theocratic Islamic dictatorship in Iran. Our men and women in uniform are dying for this lie. A lie being perpetuated by the Right Wing extremists and Theocrats in our own country. When I look at and listen to Bush and his crew, I keep hearing the words: "These are bad men, bad, bad men."

2. Is he** going to call for sacrifice like in WWII? Or for flying flags...
...at half-staff? Is he** going to attend the funerals of the fallen, like our (real) leaders have done since WWII?

Yeah, right.

3. Let's see, how is this different from WW2...
1. We won WW2.

2. WW2 was shorter (for us). Seriously, from Pearl Harbor to VJ day was 1,347 days (December 7, 1941 to August 15, 1945). From 9/11 to today is 1,442 days and we still don't know where bin Laden is!

3. In WW2 we attacked the countries that attacked us or declared war on us.

4. In WW2 there was a national mobilization, a draft, shared sacrifice.

5. We had the free world on our side in WW2.
