Tardive Dyskinesia
What is Tardive Dyskinesia?
<snip>
Tardive dyskinesia is a neurological syndrome caused by the long-term use of neuroleptic drugs. Neuroleptic drugs are generally prescribed for psychiatric disorders, as well as for some gastrointestinal and neurological disorders. Tardive dyskinesia is characterized by repetitive, involuntary, purposeless movements. Features of the disorder may include grimacing, tongue protrusion, lip smacking, puckering and pursing, and rapid eye blinking. Rapid movements of the arms, legs, and trunk may also occur. Involuntary movements of the fingers may appear as though the patient is playing an invisible guitar or piano.

13. Maybe so. We scoffed at Frist though, when he gave unfounded diagnosis...
why should we place anymore credibility with another video-diagnostician, just because they are on "our side."

You ask, has Shrub's drug regimen been debunked? I ask in turn, has it been proved?

17. From this archived article
at Capitol Hill Blue:

Bush Taking Anti-Depressants to Control Mood Swings

<snip>
The prescription drugs, administered by Col. Richard J. Tubb, the White House physician, can impair the President’s mental faculties and decrease both his physical capabilities and his ability to respond to a crisis, administration aides admit privately.

“It’s a double-edged sword,” says one aide. “We can’t have him flying off the handle at the slightest provocation but we also need a President who is alert mentally.”

Tubb prescribed the anti-depressants after a clearly-upset Bush stormed off stage on July 8, refusing to answer reporters' questions about his relationship with indicted Enron executive Kenneth J. Lay.

“Keep those motherfuckers away from me,” he screamed at an aide backstage. “If you can’t, I’ll find someone who can.”

29. Obviously, something is wrong with him, but we need to be careful
pulling a Frist (like someone else here has noted). Also, a regime is a group of likeminded people who try to effect a change in government.

A medication schedule is a REGIMEN. I'm a nurse and hear other nurses make this mistake all the time. Drives me nuts. It's right up there with orientated (it's oriented).

As for Bush*, it's hard to say. There is something not right with him and the fact that it seems to come and go really indicates a mental problem that might be related to medications. Tardives Dyskinesia is irreversible however, and he displays it intermittently. So I don't think TD is it. I'm still inclined to believe Korsakoff's Syndrome.

12. I DX'ed him with Tardive Dyskenesia watching the debates, esp 3rd.
debate where he had involuntary drooling. Combine that with the footage from the first debate, where he had the blinking, smirking, and lip smacking...and the second debate, where his handlers cut down his meds due to his performance in the first debate, and he had that psychotic outburst at the moderator.

14. He doesn't have tardive diskinesia
If you'd ever seen someone who really has it, you'd know what I mean. The symptoms are much more severe than what Bush exhibits.

I'm no doctor, but I think Bush has narcissistic personality disorder, from the DSM-IV:

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy.

Just my opinion, though.

20. This author gives Bush a DX of "Malignant Egophrenia"
THE MADNESS OF GEORGE W. BUSH: A REFLECTION OF OUR COLLECTIVE PSYCHOSIS by Paul Levy
http://www.awakeninthedream.com/georgew.html

excerpt

George W. Bush is ill. He has a psycho-spiritual dis-ease of the soul, a sickness that is endemic to our culture and symptomatic of the times we live in. It’s an illness that has been with us since time immemorial. Because it’s an illness that's in the soul of all of humanity, it pervades the field and is in all of us in potential at any moment, which makes it especially hard to diagnose. Bush's malady is quite different from schizophrenia, for example, in which all the different parts of the personality are fragmented and not connected to each other, resulting in a state of internal chaos. As compared to the dis-order of the schizophrenic, Bush can sound quite coherent and can appear like such a "regular," normal guy, which makes the syndrome he is suffering from very hard to recognize. This is because the healthy parts of his personality have been co-opted by the pathological aspect, which drafts them into its service. Because of the way the personality self-organizes an outer display of coherence around a pathogenic core, I would like to name Bush's illness ‘malignant egophrenic (as compared to schizophrenic) disease,’ or ‘ME disorder,’ for short. If ME disorder goes unrecognized and is not contained, it can be very destructive, particularly if the person is in a position of power.

In much the same way that a child's psychology cannot be understood without looking at the family system he or she is a part of, George Bush does not exist in isolation. We can view Bush and his entire Administration (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, etc), as well as the corporate, military industrial complex that they are co-dependently enmeshed with, the media that they control, the voters that support them, and ourselves as well, as interconnected parts of a whole system, or a "field." Instead of relating to any part of this field as an isolated entity, it’s important to contemplate the entire interdependent field as the ‘medium’ though which malignant egophrenia manifests and propagates itself. ME disease is a field phenomenon, and needs to be contemplated as such. Bush's sickness is our own.

22. Something Specific I Noticed . . .
After completing a sentence, his jaw moved slightly forward and backward rather quickly. I didn't like watching him, but if you watch it again, see if you notice it. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know if this even means anything.

34. This is not new...I noticed during the debates, as did many DUers. I
don't think it's tardive dyskinesia, but it appears neurological. Actually, there was discussion before, that he was straining to listen to his audio device (B* back bulge), and at that time, it made quite a bit of sense! Oh, what an embarrassing moron. I can't believe that people really believe he was elected after those debates. The world must think that a majority of US citizens are morons themselves!

Another idea is body language reaction because he knows he's lying, and has to appear sincere and genuine, so his body language unconsciously gives away his lies; like Pinocchio's nose, etc

If he does, it's a very early case. Of course, you cannot truly diagnose via TV, unlike "Doctor" Frist's special abilities. I think it's that coke jaw phenomenon.

30. I noticed the jaw thing also.
He's been doing that for a while now. What I also noticed today was the sniffing. He does remind me of someone who has been doing coke. The jaw thing was worse today than I have noticed in the past, too. He is such an embarrassment and disgrace. It is hard to watch him with all the sniffing and twitching and jaw swishing.
