Poll question: Day After "Dead Wrong." Why Did CNN Air This?
Also, any other reflections you might have on this pre-CHIMPeachment documentary. I'm still stunned they did this.

22. I agree also. I don't know why people liked that show so much.
I saw it as an hour of damage control,
with a bit of groundwork for future "plausable deniability".

I was not thrilled.

24. Well, I think many folks have been in the desert so long that ...

... even a moist tissue seems to be a relief. In other words, the upside of "damage control" is that there's damage to be controlled. Personally, I try to keep my eye on the prize: indictment, conviction, and life imprisonment of about 25-30 members of this criminal regime. We're only about 1-2% of the way to that goal, imho -- and that ground could be easily lost and the condition of our body politic accelerate in its decline.

30. Yep that's my vote too
I don't trust them and it seemed to me that although Bush took some hits in the program - if you were pro Bush - or don't know a lot about this stuff you would think Tenet and the intelligence agencies were to blame.

4. Perhaps CNN has just had enough of the Bush BS.
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 01:26 PM by TwilightZone
Maybe it's similar to the White House press corps finally getting pissed off about being lied to and firing back.

Maybe CNN has just had it.

11. The program was confusing. It was hard to tell who was being blamed
Although, the conclusion seemed to be that Tenent was solely to blame for the whole thing.

14. The Game is nearly over
I think they see the handwriting on the wall. The whole world sees through the Bushit and it is no longer feasible to spin in the face of growing evidence of malfeasance in office by this administration. I think they are going down. Hopefully they will be locked in to damage control for the rest of their term and can do little to forward their twisted agenda.

17. Other -- they are still supporting the adminstration's myth.
The intelligence was not wrong, it was fraudulant. The *ites promulgated fiction as fact, and the corporate media went along with it, when anyone who was keeping aware knew that they were spinning lies.

For them to say the intelligence was wrong is a whitewash of the reality. They were not fooled by Chalabi or INC operatives or Iranian intelligence. They created it from whole cloth, cut to fit their specifications.

21. yep--"wrong" is the wrong word
Fraudulent is the one we should be using. "Wrong" lets the people who cherry-picked evidence off the hook.

However, from what I've read on DU (haven't seen the program yet--I wasn't expecting it to be worth the time--kicking myself now), this program could be a hint of things to come in the MSM and I suspect that CNN is both trying to restore its reputation (the new boss said he was getting back to real news as opposed to the FOX-type shouting heads) and trying to be the first to break this story, a la Washington Post and Watergate. (It wouldn't really be accurate to say they're "scooping" anybody, since WE all knew this stuff years ago. They're just the first to report it on TV.)

18. Why position yourself for a downfall with a lie?
The "mistaken" intelligence came from the Office of Special Plans, not some Baghdad town drunk. I'd think they'd want to be able to say, "Told you so--despite their efforts to stop us!" if the truth was on the verge of coming out. That's why my vote goes to choice #1--Fitzgerald is hanging over the Bush Empire like Monty Phython's sixteen-ton weight, and all the MSM can do in preparation is make Bush look as innocent as possible.

CNN just wants to be able to make flashy promos to remind that we saw it there first once the shit finally hits the fan.

25. Bushler's corporate masters are reining him in
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 02:31 PM by wli
Down comes the smear in the press, afterward if impeachment happens we know it's an internal squabble. The Republican party isn't patriotic; it's a terrorist organization.

i.e. Richard Mellon Scaife et al are saying, "Chimpy, Cheney, Rummy, you're fired."

ON EDIT: Changed "Bush" to "Bushler" in the Subject: line.
