Take Your Defeatist Attitude and Go Join the Democrats, Chuck

Nebraska Republican Senator Chuck Hagel announced his intention yesterday to run for the White House in 2008 as a Democrat. Well, if he didn't he might as well have. Hagel, a highly decorated Vietnam vet, is displaying just the perfect defeatest attitude we need to actually turn Iraq into another Vietnam.

"We should start figuring out how we get out of there," Hagel said on "This Week" on ABC. "But with this understanding, we cannot leave a vacuum that further destabilizes the Middle East. I think our involvement there has destabilized the Middle East. And the longer we stay there, I think the further destabilization will occur."
Hagel said "stay the course" is not a policy. "By any standard, when you analyze 2 1/2 years in Iraq ... we're not winning," he said.

Well, Chuck, we freed the Iraqis from an evil despot who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of them and left the rest of them to starve while he built lavish palaces and conspired with the United Nations to pilfer money intended for use in feeding his starving masses. And while you choose to talk about how bad it is over there, why do you see fit not to talk about the successes? Every soldier you hear talking about the situation from the field (witness Matt Lauer’s interview the other day, for just one example) says that to only preach gloom and doom is to not tell the whole story.

Granted, things aren't easy over there, but it's a WAR Chuck. And it's a war like no other war. A war in which we've tied the hands of our brave military men and women six ways from Sunday: We tell them go win it, but don't fire into mosques, don't chase terrorists when they run and hide in with civilians, respect every single one of the terrorist's religious traditions and be sure to follow 82,000 pages of ridiculous rules of engagement when the enemy only has one rule of engagement – kill the Western Imperialist Vermin. And for God's sake, our brave men and women mustn’t do anything to a detained enemy combatant that would bring them any type of discomfort or (gasp!) humiliation. God forbid we flush a Koran while they are lopping off the heads of innocent civilians! And don’t shoot one of these potentially unarmed terrorists or “insurgents” in self defense, soldier, or we’ll at the very least give you the most thorough rectal exam imaginable or a court martial if we feel like it, and we’ll throw you in the brig while you’re waiting. And no matter what you do, soldier, you’ll have Cindy Sheehan types screeching at the top of their deluded peacenik lungs about how your effort is being wasted for no reason – that your colleagues are dying in vain for no worthy cause. In fact, these freaks feel that our freedom and liberty aren’t even worth defending: Your effort, from start to finish, soldier is a total waste. Now you, Chuck, think we need to turn tail and run. Not right away, mind you, but we should have “a timetable” telling our enemy exactly what we’re going to do and when we’re going to do it. What a morale booster for them. Kick our fine young men and women in the teeth by denigrating their efforts; then tip the enemy off as to when we are planning on running away. Fine strategy there, Chuck. No wonder we “lost” in Vietnam if that was our strategy. And you think you are smart enough to come up with a "timetable" for a strategy that won't "leave a vacuum that further destabilizes the Middle East." I don't think so.

2. How dissapointing.
It took him until the last paragraph to blame Clinton.

Every good rightwing nutcase knows you get that out of the way first.

4. Whoa..
That website just screams jingoism. There should be a law against perversion of the flag, like that.

Isn't this run my the same Bush sycophant that runs Blogs for Bush? If so, would you expect anything less? I do find it ironic though that he criticizes Senator Hagel about Vietnam when, like most right-wing bloggers, he's probably never stepped foot in the country. I wonder when he's going to go sign up to go over to Iraq since everything is going so well.

5. It would be a cakewalk lto dissect this drivel...........
but what's the point? This crap is written by morons for morons. If you can get halfway through it without either smashing your CPU or laughing uncontrollably, nothing any of us can say is going to shift the six or seven cells that you have floating around your cranium.

Sounds like a commercial for some kind of half assed diet supplement.

The guy seems to be advocating a genocide.
