Lately we've seen a surge in drama-queen behavior. Incoherent post goes up, one sentence stating some RL crisis (sometimes political sometimes not) and then a declaration of "can't talk now!" and sign off. *sigh*

First, I worry about those who would rush to post at DU when a serious crisis needing immediate attention arises. Secondly, it sure makes the place look more like a soap-opera than a political discussion forum. I haven't sent people to DU in quite some time now, never know what embarrassing nonsense will be going on, hate to have it seem I actually recommend it as worthwhile reading.

but I have noticed that there are a few posters who don't bother to make any sense a lot of the time. I will start reading a post and then go WTF? because the post doesn't make any sense. Or maybe it does make sense, but I can't figure it out because it is in some sort of weird stream of consciousness style, with no caps, no actual sentences, and odd punctuation. I usually don't bother to check to see the name of a poster when I am reading posts, but whenever I run into something like that I immediately guess it is one of just a handful of posters--and I am always right.

When I realize that I have again carelessly stumbled into one of those incomprehensible messages, I sigh and move on. But I would rather be able to actually read the posts.

Really, sentences do help.

And it isn't an issue of being perfect or never making mistakes. We all make mistakes. Nor is it a matter of grammar policing. It is a matter of actually making sense so we can udnerstand what the poster is saying.
