Why should Iraq have a Constitution before we leave?

Furthermore, why shouldn't Iraq's government (and Constitution) reflect Islamic law to the same degree as Israel's government (and highest laws) reflect Talmudic laws (halakhah)?

I'm continually perplexed at the repeated invention of specious "reasons" for US militarism under the criminal Bushoilini Regime -- and why isn't it obvious they're concocting a scam a day?

If Iraq has a new Constitution, the Bushies can say that the wonderful "democratic" (ie. Islamic Theocratic) nation of Iraq is now in existence and the US is just staying there as "advisors" and to help out the Iraqi government against the evil terrorists. (They're already saying that, but having a Constitution will help them with the PR.) And when the civil war starts, they'll just blame those backward Muslim Iraqis for screwing up the glorious democracy so many American (ie. "White Christian") soldiers did there.

Isreal's laws don't reflect halakhah -- with few exceptions (divorce/marrige) being the major one. Even that in that though, its much closer to US law than islamic law (the male who refuses to request a divorce at his wifes request can be imprisoned for life).

I'm not a supporter of some of Isreal's policies, but to compare it to a religious state following halakhah is disengenious.

Further, Israel's laws do not offer "equal protection" yet we're making a fuss about Iraq being weak in this regard. It seems that even in this, U.S. policy is hypocritical. But what else is new? :shrug:
