VIDEO: Thousands Protest Bush, Iraq War In Salt Lake City (KUTV CBS-2)
With the message that people can protest a war while supporting troops and veterans, a handful of speakers -including a Gold Star mom - addressed an anti-war rally in Salt Lake City Monday, the same day President Bush was in town.

Bush spoke to more than 6,000 people at the annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, while three blocks away about 2,000 people gathered to protest Bush administration policies and the war in Iraq.

Barbara Wright, 56, drove five hours from her home in St. George to attend the rally at Pioneer Park.

``There's a lot of reasons I'm unhappy. Predominantly due to the war, but also about the economy, Social Security,'' Wright said

11. Dana "Bush-Sucker Extraordinaire" Bash...
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 08:17 PM by Flubadubya
on CNN glibly mentioned that there were a couple of hundred protesters in a park "down the road". How conveeeniiient NOT to even mention that it was being led by the Mayor of Salt Lake City.

Oh yeah, it was her alright. She really played this one down and in a most transparent manner. Dana Bash has Bush butt marks permanently plastered on her lips! :grr:  :grr:

25. If there's an aerial photo of the crowd...
... or just one which provides an overall view of the protest, it should be fairly easy to come up with a firm number.

12. CNN and PsyOps article by Alexander Cockburn
www.counterpunch.org/cnnpsyops.html

Also investigate the CIA's Operation Mockingbird. You can't trust MainstreamMedia. Disney owns ABC, and ABC owns radio station KSFO who pays Melanie Morgan's salary. Morgan is no on a counter-protest to Cindy Sheehan while on ABC's payroll...

ABC both 'covers' and 'uncovers' the news. ABC should be investigated for this little act of deception. A little Mickey Mouse operation going on, wouldn't you say ?

6. This is the big problem we are facing
The MSM is under estimating the antiwar protests and over estimating the pro war protests.

We must email them about this fact.

7. I'm liking this Mayor Anderson
this is what we need politicians in both parties that stand for what is right and not worry about how it will impact the next election. Sadly Rocky might be gone after this but I sure hope not

10. Fantastic
Now that is what democracy looks like. "A thousand people in the streets".

GWB ain't seen nothing yet. I hear there will be the largest anti-war demonstration ever on Sept. 24, in DC... is that right?

That's what I heard, too, according to Mike Malloy. Can someone please recommend a website so we can find out more?

14. Check this out...
I'm in Boise and work from home. I use pcAnywhere to connect to our server in Ohio. I called QWEST, who are in SLC (although sometimes I get someone here) because my long distance isn't working and hasn't since about 1PM.

The guy I talked to said there are long distance outages all over their areas here & in Utah. I said something like, I swear it's 'cuz that damned Bush flew into town this afternoon. Bush flew into Boise this afternoon. This guy @ QWEST said their office is downtown. There were snipers on the roofs everywhere and he could see the park where he said 'hundreds' of people gathered. He said, Utah is a "Republican mecca" and my reply was "as it is here, but I'm not one." "Neither, am I and this madness has to stop."

I almost started crying.

Besides summabiches, I do have my cell phone! Hah-hah.

This needs to be done any time there is a protest.
Folks need to see the size of the crowds.
