Is it any wonder the country turns to Comedy Central for the news?
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 08:25 PM by tinfoilinfor2005
Right now on our cable news channels: MSNBC: Olivia Newton John's boyfriend missing. CNN: Larry King doing an in depth interview with Pamela Anderson. FAUX: Sean Hannity spreading usual manure. (Don't even know why I'm plugging this one).

Must be nothing else is going on in the world right now.

7. Totally agree. Good article about an AEI guy.
How do guys like this guy and Maxwell go from pennyless to billionaires? With a little help from their friends.
Long article, well worth the read.

3. What? ONJ's boyfriend is missing?
OMG! I had no idea! Democracy Now! didn't even cover this story! Just another example of liberal media controlling what we hear on the air waves! By the way, I wonder if Pam had surgery?

The thing is, I feel bad for poor Jon Stewart. He's just a comedian who came into the role of Daily Show anchor to satirize current events. Then, as the current media became what it is, he was suddenly the only one reporting the real news, even if it was only to get to a punchline.

It must be a terribly daunting role to assume as the last bastion of truth in mainstream news. He denies it, but I think he feels a certain responsibility as this point. I only hope he doesn't end up cracking from the pressure.

9. I think all the Emmy nominations and wins
finally gave Jon and the staff a clue that they were being regarded as more than just a fake news show. Viewers were looking at it as a hybrid news show of sorts; real news with a blend of humor and sarcasm. And that does give you a certain amount of responsibility, as much as you wish to deny it.

8. Jon Stewart
really crystalizes all the news we go out of our way to ferret out. I would guess he actually educates many people.

10. The actual daily news is often dull or sad or over the heads of many
and I agree that he uses comedy to draw interest. He is a wonderful educator.
