Chuck Hagel is primed to be slimed....
by the right-wing slime machine. He has crossed the line. He has spoken out against the war in Iraq. That is not accepted from Republicans anymore than it is by Democrats. They will destroy him.

3. They are turning on him already

We should let him know there is room for honest people in the Democratic Party. I have no idea what his views are on most issues. I probably disagree with him on most things. But we need to encourage people who are not afraid to speak truth to power and to risk their political careers to do it.

14. You should
look up his history on voting machines. Seems he owned a voting machine company then quit and ran for senate on his voting machines without divulging his ties with the company. It was a huge "upset." You can google the details, but I wouldn't trust this guy for a second.

4. No they won't
If they do he'll call the media and tell'em where all the bodies are despite the fact he was in on it himself. You see it's like in the movie "Goodfellas" Ray Lioto's character got off because he was willing to talk. That's what will happen if Hagel is taken down, he'll sink the whole GOP in the process.

18. Doesn't surprise me, he's an addict with a bad past
I bet there's stuff he could never confess to doing in a 12 step program without legal implications.

6. Though, this isn't the first time that he's strayed significantly from the
party line, so it will be interesting to see if they smack him for it this time.

The Ahmanson family sold their shares in American Information Systems to the McCarthy Group and the World Herald Company, Inc. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel disclosed in public documents that he was the Chairman of American Information Systems and claimed between a $1 to 5 million investment in the McCarthy Group. In 1997, American Information Systems purchased Business Records Corp. (BRC), formerly Texas-based election company Cronus Industries, to become ES&S. One of the BRC owners was Carolyn Hunt of the right-wing Hunt oil family, which supplied much of the original money for the Council on National Policy.

In 1996, Hagel became the first elected Republican Nebraska senator in 24 years when he did surprisingly well in an election where the votes were verified by the company he served as chairman and maintained a financial investment. In both the 1996 and 2002 elections, Hagel’s ES&S counted an estimated 80% of his winning votes. Due to the contracting out of services, confidentiality agreements between the State of Nebraska and the company kept this matter out of the public eye. Hagel’s first election victory was described as a “stunning upset” by one Nebraska newspaper.

Hagel’s official biography states, “Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate, Hagel worked in the private sector as the President of McCarthy and Company, an investment banking firm based in Omaha, Nebraska and served as Chairman of the Board of American Information Systems.” During the first Bush presidency, Hagel served as Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the 1990 Economic Summit of Industrialized Nations (G-7 Summit).

11. And I think therein lies his motive for doing what he's doing. He
wants to run for president and he figures if he gets the Dems on his side, he will win in a landslide, between the votes he steals and the ones the Dems give him. I don't trust this man as far as I can throw him. This is probably all in their plan.

16. yes
I was changing channels and heard Hannity ranting about how good things really were in Iraq - it was so delusional I listened -anyway after rant was over during which he talked about the true heros who volunteered to fight for freedom and democracy. The people who caused our defeat in the 60s were back (he listed Fonda, the Clintons, Kerry and Kennedy). Then he took off on Hagel - who was attacking the President because of his own ego and political ambitions. he then promised to say more about Hagel after the news. (Having arrived at my destination, I didn't hear.

all the good things going on?

Never mind.

but folks are getting tired of the repetition and as more invariably speak out the only question is will they go quietly or will they make another 911 call.
