Isn't that number the "official" killed in combat dead? What I mean is, the actual number of US soldiers dead as a result of the insanity of the Bush-Cheney Blood Lust Cult is probably way higher.

For instance, if an IED goes off, kills 1 soldier and badly injures 2 others who are flown to Germany for treatment and subsequently die there, I think those 2 deaths are not counted in the death toll, because when they died they didn't actually die in combat. Can you believe this shit? Also, deaths from, say, maintenance accidents over there aren't put on the total either.

You can be sure that they are defining the deaths very specifically to make the number as low as possible.
