Great Republican Moments of Hubris
Those far-seeing ancient Greeks, they knew a thing or two about ambition and greed in their politics. If "hubris" wasn't coined by them with Republicans in mind, I don't know what was.

You can count on the Republicans to take that one extra step too far when they get too much power. Like a frat boy with the keys to Dad's liquor cabinet, they get high off their hubristic ways. We all remember 1995 and the Contract On America. Newt and the gang shut down the government and in one fell swoop, soured much of the public on their little counterrevolution. Then there was Ollie North and his privatized NSA, and Nixon with miles of tapes. The record is long, dirty, and illustrious.

More swoops fell this week, with the ass-dumb uncovering of a CIA operative. If it looks like Rove, and it smells like Rove... Now Rove, there is a man with "hubris" tattooed on his bald ass. :-)

Never in our lifetimes have the Republicans controlled the four branches of government (I am counting the mainstream media) to this extent. The audacity has been breathtaking, and now it is time for a reckoning. Please, America, tear away from the latest manufactured distractions just long enough to wake up and take stock of your emptying wallets. With no WMD's, no Saddam, no Osama, no jobs, no credibility abroad, and no shame, it is far 0past due for America to say, no thanks and NO MORE BUSHIT.

Now that I have given the ancient Greeks their due, allow me to give the Germans theirs, as I freely admit to basking in a little schadenfreude. :-)
