SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Three people were detained by authorities during President George W. Bush's visit to Salt Lake City.
A 57-year-old man pushing a homemade wheelchair caught the attention of the Secret Service as he approached the Salt Palace, where Bush addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars national convention Monday, said Salt Lake City police detective Dwayne Baird.
Baird said the man, who was not handicapped, tried to push his chair through the metal detector and threw himself onto the ground near the building entrance.

A second person was turned over to the Secret Service for questioning after he drove through a barricade set up for the president's motorcade. Bush was still at the Salt Palace at the time.
A juvenile wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack was arrested after he walked down the middle of a street and allegedly ignored police orders to stop and remove his mask, Baird said. He was arrested for investigation of failure to comply.
