Instead, the corporate media actively colluded with government in channeling pro-war propaganda, dismissing dissent and smearing critics, even to the extent of disclosing classified information that could harm national security, in breach of espionage laws.

This unseemly collusion between prominent media pundits and senior government officials is not a story that interests the mainstream media, but it is a story that has already landed one journalist in jail and now threatens the presidency of George W Bush. It is a story of unbridled political hubris and unscrupulous journalism, a tail of conspiracy and treason, a travesty of conceit and deception, culminating in the death and destruction of war.
