Want to locate your local Sex Offender?

this site combines google maps with sex offender registries. (you get an address, photo and name, but you have to join to get more specified data about the crimes.)

While I am not neccesarily comfortable with the whole idea of public registration, I provide this as a public service for those who might wish to avoid anyone who they perceive as a danger to themselves or their children. Please remember that anyone on this list is still a member of society who has served their criminal debt, and therefore should not be exposed to additional tormet or harrassment by other citizens. I personally am suprised to notice that, while I live in an integrated neighborhood, all the registered offenders near me are black. there are 35 in my zip code, alone, what does this tell us about the criminal justice system in this country?

I live in about a 50-50 white/black neighborhood in Philadelphia but all the sex offenders listed in my area are black.

3. It's interesting don't you think,

that we go to great lengths to register and track sex offenders? The category encompasses a large spectrum of offenses, by the way. But when someone who assaulted, robbed or killed another is released, we don't hear a thing! What's the difference?

about the guy next door with a history of Arson, or assault. maybe we should just return to scarlet letters?

and my neighborhood has got to have at least 10 times more people

7. Warning about registries: Our neighbor (County Sheriff) says...

Not to let the registry give you a false sense of awareness. For every reg'd offender, there are several more who plead their charges down, or haven't been caught or convicted yet, and others who just don't register or are drifters.

Most children are molested & women raped by people they know--family or "friends".
