Is Chavez really as bad as Robertson says he is?
Is the Venezualan economy in the toilet because of him. Are Muslim extremists flocking to the area?
Or did he pull this out of his ass?

6. Please. Venezuela as a breeding ground for Muslim terrorists?
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 02:13 PM by Stirk
That's such transparent bullshit it makes me laugh. Pat Robertson and his corporate buddies don't like Chavez's domestic policies, which put Venezuela before US corporations. That's why Robertson would like to see him dead.

They've been pushing this "Venezuela = Al Qaeda" thing off and on for a couple of years now. It never gets any traction because it's obvious garbage.

7. Chavez was democratically elected.
he's up for re election next year, and he's leading. He survived a pretty nasty coup, as well as a general strike.

he is most certainly not perfect. He's a marxist. He does NOT like the rumblings he see's from his Neighbors to the North.

Therefore, he should be executed?

8. Chavez is a Populist
He is using the nation's oil reserves to benefit the common folk rather than enrich the upper classes. And he's done it in America's face using constitutional processes rather than a military coup.

The Venezuelan elite, backed by the US, attempted a coup several years ago and instigated a recall election last year. Neither one was successful. That accounts for a lot of the hostility.

9. I believe Their economy grew by 14-17% last year
The Administration and oil companies are very pissed off at him because he raised the oil royalties charged for Venezuelan oil, to feed, educate, and give medical care to it's citizens.

for 3o yrs at least the top venezuelan leaders pocketed all the texaco money and the people got nothing..slave wages!

oil companies hate chavez because now they have to pay the workers real salaries!

time for a coup doncha think??

or do the venezuelan people deserve to have a real living ??

* and texaco et al think its our oil..since they ran venezuela for so long!! with puppet governments!

10. Chavez is a complicated man
Not perfect by any means, but he's doing a hard job under very difficult circumstances, trying to pull his country out of abject poverty. He is a Marxist, he's a buddy with Fidel, that's true, but he also makes the point that capitalism, as it has been practiced in Venezuela, has produced a few very wealthy and a whole lot of very poor, and that has to change.

The main reason the Bushies (and their goose-stepping minions) hate Chavez is because he came up with the radical idea of taxing foreign oil companies to help pay for making the poor better off. Of course the Bushies oppose that.

Unfortunately, the tiny minority of wealthy there own the communications apparatus, so you hear a torrent of negative misinformation coming out of there, which the Bushies are all to happy to repeat.

16. Can you really trust the word of a grown man who uses the word "homo"?
As Robertson was caught on live network feed from the Larry King show doing? As seen in the video "Spin?"

May seem like I'm committing the genetic fallacy, but Robertson IS genetically fallacious.

17. Bush has been trying to oust Chavez from day one. Money
has been used from our government to upseat him.

Greg Palast has done a great deal of writing on this.

In fact, he has a new article today!
