Clergy leader calls for Robertson to clarify "INDISCREET" fatwa
WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Rev. Rob Schenck, president of the National Clergy Council in Washington, DC, released this statement today on the comments of the Reverend Pat Robertson regarding Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez:

"I have always held Pat Robertson in the highest esteem, but his remarks today about Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez were at best indiscreet and probably crossed a serious moral and ethical line. Reverend Robertson must immediately apologize, retract his statement and clarify what the Bible and Christianity teaches about the permissibility of taking human life outside of law."

Reverend Schenck, a minister in the Evangelical Church Alliance, has in the past worked closely with Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network, including hosting Mr. Robertson for major events and appearing on his 700 Club Broadcast. He was also a paid consultant to the American Center for Law and Justice, Robertson's legal arm.

1. WTF??!!...
:wtf:

"what the Bible and Christianity teaches about the permissibility of taking human life outside of law"

where does the Bible say "thou shalt not kill unless it is leagally sanctioned" ???

If that's the case, their insane baby killing argument is out the window.

3. "If abortion is legal, then 'killing babies' is sanctioned"
Hoo boy, is this a box these televangelists are building?

13. well, the OT is full of that sort of thing
The OT is full of laws that, when violated, are punishable by death, i.e., legally sanctioned killing. Following another religion, incest, adultery, blasphemy, working on Saturday, etc.

Schenck probably thinks killing people for those reasons is okay since biblical law sanctions it, but is chastizing Robertson for endorsing assassination.

4. Wacko Pat Needs to Be Put Behind Bars
Hugo Chavez is a great man and a great president, much better than Bush. I think Wacko Pat needs to be put in a prison before he is allowed to embarress this country anymore. In fact all so-called "religious leaders" need to be watched for any type of political comments. Anyone who advocates international crimes needs to be taken from their home, sent to be tried by the ICC (International Criminal Court) for crimes against humanity. Robertson is worse than Saddam, Stalin or any other progressive dictator. When we win in 2008 we'll put an end to this kind of criminal hate speech that makes a mockery of sacred principles in international law.

Turning Robertson over to the ICC is perfectly appropriate.

6. hmmm, seems like it says "thou shall not kill" - not thou shall not
kill except when permitted by law.

Guess that goes with "suffer the poor" and "whatever you do unto these, the least of them..." except if it will affect you getting a tax cut.

I do believe I'm finally a believer in posting the 10 commandments in schools - these assholes really do need to read them again and figure out that all the 'fine print' they've added shouldn't be there.

To refer to in times of "unclarity".

7. This photo might explain where Rev. Schenck's coming from!

In the U.S. Senate: Rev. Rob Schenck presents to Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum a sample of more than 75,000 Courage of Conviction awards mailed into Faith and Action applauding the Senator for his bold defense of the Sanctity of Human Life and traditional marriage.

The Senator was viciously attacked by liberal members of Congress and the media for his morally principled views, but Faith and Action supporters cheered him on. “We’re tempted to only communicate with the bad guys on Capitol Hill and that's only when we’re angry with them.” said Rev. Rob Schenck. "But we need to also encourage those who take a risk by morally standing for God; it’s not only the right thing to do by them, but it encourages others to be more bold, too.”

18. "Outside of Law" - Abortion is Legal
So whatever man wants as law can and will condone death.

These people need God to slap them around. Maybe it's happening right now, and these Religious Extremists/Charlatans lash out on the world around them, because they know deep down how flawed they are in the eyes of thier Lord.

Want to gear a really sick joke? Pat worships the Devil but thinks it's God.
