I have the three step solution for getting out of Iraq peacefully.

1. Impeach and imprison Bush, Cheney, Rove etc. for war crimes against the people of Iraq.

2. Offer an official apology from the United States Government to the people of Iraq, and to the people of the world. Promise we will start paying reparations immediately. This will reestablish our standing in the global community.

3. Start working with humanitarian NGOs, funding them from the frozen assets of Halliburton and other war profiteers. Assets that will provide real infrastructure renewal. All reconstruction work is performed by Iraqis for good wages. With american forces gone the remaining insurgencies will fight among themselves for some time but the majority's desire for peace will overcome the ethnic hatred in the long run.

Okay, I'm ready shoot holes in it if you like.

4. I was thinking of NGOs earlier today

they were prepared to go in -- but the US military blocked them -- and in Afghanistan many people couldn't tell the military and NGOs apart -- which seemed to be part of the Rummy game plan. Also I remember some of the NGOs warehouses were deliberately bombed by the US.

It seemed like the halliburton/rummy folks were trying to discredit the NGOs from the beginning.

But I believe that nearly all NGOs have pulled out -- and backed away from the US military machine -- if so then they might have a chance if a mature person or group can make step 1 happen (impeachment of the crooks and criminals starting with bushie and Cheney.)

Your plan is simple -- and often the simplest plan is the one that works.

Also you plan is honest -- apology for bushie crime family.
