Is it just me or is Rush somehow finding a way to be even worse lately?
i know he's always been an evil son of a bitch, especially in his early days, but ever since talk radio got blasted for the OKC bombing, rush, along with many of his peers, slightly cleaned up their act. blatant racism became thinly-veiled, rhetoric was made more slick overall.

but it seems that recent events have made the an unhinged and, since his prison abuse comments last year, he keeps going more and more over the edge (cindy sheehan, etc). what is causing this? drugs? feeling emboldened after bush's reelection? losing viwers and feeeling the need to shock the audience to draw ratings?

or is he just becoming more evil? though i doubt this, i've held that he never mellowed in the late 90s-he just repackaged it

5. I never listen, but he's probably reacting to
seeing all his hateful views going up in smoke, and his core people starting to 'get it'.

8. Ratings and laziness. Rush doesn't believe what he's saying
He got his gig back before he went national by imitating Howard Stern and being as extreme as he could. The more extreme he got, the bigger his audience grew. He mellowed a very littel bit in the 90s because his ratings were so high that he didn't want to scare off listeners. Now he's free-falling, so he's trying to shock people into listening. He's Mr. Irrelevant nowadays. I don't think he get the insider gigs he used to get, and I don't think he's part of the "in" circle anymore.

I listened to him for a while in the 90s. He has no depth of understanding of what he says. He contradicts himself frequently. It's because he's not really a conservative, or anything. He's just an entertainer.

He's also a lazy bastard, and personally weak. He doesn't have to do any research to be obnoxious. He just has to say radical things.

He's really a pathetic person. I'm waiting for them to find kiddie porn under his bed.

My take, anyway. I haven't listened to him in years, except the clips that make bigger news.

10. Personally, I think he's back on the pills or something.
I never listen to him, but I've read a few transcripts lately and his thoughts don't even seem to be coherent.

16. He's insanely intolerant
of opposition opinions. I am sure he is well aware of his diminishing audience. He senses the change and his reaction is to become is enraged.

12. Maybe that Florida prosecutor is getting closer than we know
and the lil failure is lashing out at more people than usual in anticipation of not being able to broadcast from a prison cell.

limbaugh - a failure at everything he's done except hate people. And that exception is why conservatives love him.

I will thank limbaugh for one thing. In the 80's and early 90's I was an apolitical Sailor in the world's greatest Navy. Thanks to listening to limbaugh everyday for three years during my 45 minute drive home (89-92) I am now a flamethrowing liberal with a VET Card to boot. thanks rush.

20. That's what I think......
Something about losing control of a situation that drives RW personalities crazy. He has been exposed as drug addicted, lying chickenhawk and his radio bravado rings hollow now.

The pressure of not knowing where the prosecutor is headed must be freaking him out. Jail time is a bitch if you're a rich white pansy ass. Maybe that is what's on his mind. Hatred is a two way street.

And so, to curry their favor and earn his keep, he has done just that.
