4. Maybe they were shoplifting.

Stacy Driver, shown with his father, Huey, in this family photo, died Sunday in the custody of Wal-Mart employees after they struggled to detain him in handcuffs for suspected shoplifting.
Security experts discourage the aggressive tactics used by Wal-Mart employees who struggled with a suspected thief who later died.

"Most retailers have a policy of not going into a chase or getting into a combative fight with someone," said Joseph LaRocca, vice president of loss prevention for the National Retail Federation.

Wal-Mart's corporate office on Tuesday refused to discuss its procedures for detaining and using force against shoplifting suspects in wake of the death of Stacy Clay Driver, 30, on Sunday.

Is Wal-Mart the new Post Office or something?

on edit: well, i need to brush up on my typing speed, looks like both the story I linked and my Post Office joke were already covered here... oh well...

11. More details....
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Two Wal-Mart employees were shot to death Tuesday in the parking lot of one of the retail stores in suburban Phoenix, police said.

The shooting occurred in the middle of the lot, at least 50 yards from the store entrance. Police spokesman Mike Pena said authorities were searching for the gunman. He said there were several witnesses to the shootings but would not identify them.

''This is an extremely tragic situation. It has been confirmed that we have lost two of our associates,'' company spokeswoman Sharon Weber said from Wal-Mart's headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.

Police cordoned off much of the parking lot, telling anyone whose car was within a perimeter that they would have to leave their vehicles there.

From a related article:

sorry

but the way Wal-Mart has behaved with regards to Unions

in my mind union-busting is a distinct possibility

OR

the reverse,

employees losing their jobs because of involment with pro-union activities getting revenge

TWO employees??

that ain't random in my Canuk way of thinking . . .

13. two shitty job openings in Arizona
When we fought our local Super Center (450 people in one city council meeting) we had a special presentation dedicated solely to the violence that WalFarts attracts. Kidnapping, rapes and shootings: never at Target, though. Why?
