What Happened to the Al-Qaqaa story?
Remember the 380 tons of missing explosives and munitions from the Al-Qaqaa weapons dump in Iraq? This was big news over the tail end of the November 2004 elections. The Bush team and the Pentagon were stuttering and stammering to try to keep a lid on the story, presenting more questionable satellite photos and lots of back-flipping excuses. There are French news reports that the explosives used in the London bombings may have derived from that very base that was left unguarded, seals broken, in perhaps the most clear-cut and damning case of war planning neglect by this administration.

What happened to the investigations of this debacle? Where is the media? The Congress? We are approaching the horrific number of 2000 casualties in this pre-9-11 pre-meditated war. Adding insult to injury and death, our soldiers are dying not only from IED's but IED's constructed from the Bush administration's criminal carelessness, laxity, and neglect. It underscores Bush's incompetency and incapability to achieve any stability, let alone a democracy, let alone an exit strategy in Iraq. Indeed, if his goal were to create a non-democratic state in the opening stages of civil war, then his mission has been accomplished.

If we are denied the truth, it is time for accountability. What happened to the missing tons of explosives?

1. Good questions
but I think we know what happened to a lot of the missing explosives. We see the results every day.

5. Unfortunately so...
But Al-Qaqaa seems to have been relegated to a forgotten election story. It is beyond me as to why. The connection from the supposed mission (WMD's) to the lie (come one, come all, get your stockpiled weapons here!) to the mounting casualties as a result of the administration's utter neglect is being missed.

2. America must wake up.
In hind sight it appears that this is what the bush* people wanted. Make sure they, the Iraqi, have all the explosives they need to continue the carnage. Now we have a reason to remain occupiers. Where will this all end.

3. 500,000 tons is what i saw
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 04:36 AM by oscar111
in the source article i read

works out to

1 BILLION

bombs of one pound each.. which is what brought down the Scottish plane years ago.

Iraq is floating on a sea of bombs.

gift of bush the bozo.

PS several other ammo dumps were also looted, so my figure might have been a sum of all of them nationally.

4. to avoid readers ignoring your post,
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 04:41 AM by oscar111
spell it al qua qa
as two words at the end, not one word.
{ok, not sure how to spell it, just be sure it is two words}

your way of speling it looks like you merely misspelled al queda, so readers may not realize that you have a dramatically different story from the tide of stories on al queda.

i almost skipped past your post for that reason

thanks for bring this matter up! good work

10. And the answer to them will be...
Who forged the yellow cake document?
Who used the forged document to lie to Congress, the American public, and the world about WMD's in Iraq?
Who outed a CIA agent working on WMD's because her husband told the truth about the document?
Who opened the gates of Saddam's munitions dumps to terrorists and insurgents to use on our own troops?
Where is Osama bin Laden?
Why do you love traitors to America?

13. London referenced in 1st paragraph
The issue is why this is not an issue. It should be re-stated in every debate because it goes to the heart of Bush's incompetency to resolve this devastating mess of his own making. Are there investigations (and if so by whom)? Or is the issue being swept under the Persian rug? The Right cannot be allowed to remake the war debate as a referendum on the Left's "cutting and running." They are attempting to do just that and it confuses the greater public, especially those leaning Right with a misunderstanding of God and patriotism, by the pundits' deflective and rehearsed sleight of hand. If, however, the strongest debate is on the administration's competency and accountability, the public will get the rest.

15. They dropped the story after the election
And some polling indicated that Kerry's focus on that in the last week may have cost him votes. They said voter surveys said after the allegations were revealed, people viewed Kerry as more opportunistic for trying to bash the president over that :banghead:
