Question re: journalistic ethics and Rove, et. al
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 11:34 PM by LanternWaste
So we know that Novak was one of six reporters given the damning information and the other reporters in all likelyhood will not blantantly come forward with the name of who gave them the info. That's fine. I respect that. That's a sacred cow in journalism and it's not only effective, but damned efficient.

But could one of these five reporters, as an unamed source, tell *another* reporter who the calls originated with and let that reporter run with the story? Is that within the paramaters of the journalists' ethical standards or am I just trying to justify a reporter revealing his source?

edit for spelling

that presidential advisor Karl Rove and higher WH officials encouraged reporters to treat Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife and her CIA employment as, and I quote, "fair game".

Fair? Game?
