Three Months
July, August September....

And NOW Mr. Bush wants to "get to the bottom of it"?

I hope this discrepancy gets into the media. Even if it was just a low level minion who got carried away....Three months.

1. oh thank you.
I hope that the liburul media reports on this. All of a sudden bushie wants to get to the bottom of this when in fact he has been stone walling this investigation from it's very inception.

But hey, the media is till saying that Wilson is a Clinton employee, when in fact he is a bush Sr. appointee. He said this him self yesterday. Do you think that the media would have changed their facts by now? Yeah right!

2. No chance that they'll report on it. Look at these sentences from the NYT
WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 — The memorandum from the White House counsel on Tuesday morning was terse, and unusual for the Bush administration: The Justice Department had opened a preliminary criminal investigation into the possible leak of an undercover C.I.A. officer's name, and every member of the White House staff was being ordered to "preserve all materials that might be relevant."

Over eight years of the Clinton administration, such legal warnings became all but business as usual for White House employees. But Tuesday's directive was an unsettling novelty for the staff of a president who won office vowing to restore "honor and integrity" to the Oval Office, who railed against leaks that threatened lives, and who has so far largely weathered controversies without a hint of criminal inquiry...

==============
The incredible thing is that EVEN IN REPORTING on this emerging potential scandal, they are propping him up and tearing Clinton down!! If you read those sentences, you could be forgiven for thinking that whatever was going on was CLINTON'S fault, not Bush's!

5. It is Clinton's fault
Didn;t you get the memo? The War of 1812 was Clinton;s fault too.

Yes that Times stuff is barf inducing.

The more I think of it, the more it pisses me off that the media is ignoring this little lapse.

He still doesn't give a shit about getting to the bottom of it. What the hell kind of President reads a line about Iraq getting uranium and doesn't get to the bottom of it?

4. On Crossfire today
Carville asked the Repuke guest why it has taken 11 weeks for DOJ to take any action on this. I don't think the guest had an answer but Novak piped in and said the CIA turns over these investigation requests all the time. In other words, it's not a big deal.

Yeah right. They can keep saying that and maybe if they say it often enough they'll actually start to believe it.

7. Where has it been said
that the WH was aware of this three months ago? This is an important link in my research, and I do not have hands on the article or articles.

8. Novak's article was published July 14.
So the story has been out there since then.

I know Der Shrubbenfuhrer doesn't read the newspapers, but surely SOMEbody in the WH does.

11. This is what I heard.
The CIA reffered the matter to the White House and wanted to work with them. but this whole time the White House had stone walled the CIA from an investigation. That's when they turned it over to the DOJ. And here we are now.

9. The newspapers
When it blew up the first time this summer.

I'm just referring to the fact that it became common knowledge once Novak printed his column and Wilson pointed it out publicly the first time shortly thereafter.

12. Besides the news articles in July after Wilson's op-ed and Novak's
article, several commentators on TV in the last day or two (sorry, I can't remember who) have been saying that the CIA sent the request to the DoJ in late July, but that it has taken all this time to finish supplying the info Justice requested in response. Presumably, BushCo* would get a heads-up from Justice as soon as this request (for investigation) arrived at Justice. That would be late July. So the WH really can't claim to be ignorant. No way would Ashcroft not let them know.

Sorry I can't footnote this. I'll keep an eye out for the next time this is mentioned....

13.  Remember when Ari
was on Letterman? IMO, he did not relax until he got
his main point across. Paraphrasing here: Letterman
asked: Does the WH control the media? Ari went into
his spin and said the media decides what is news
and when the story is over.

So, how does this fit in with Novak? Or maybe it
doesn't.
