Is Ed Schultz a Fake Lib?
Because of the tragic managment at AAR, I have lost the network on Sirius...

So I have taken a few weeks to listen to Ed, and I some data points have me wondering... Is he a fake Lib?

Let me explain why I ask.

Some callers have taken Ed to task about why he will not come clean to the listners, they are quickly cut off, almost as fast as the truth is cut on on Bill O'Luffa's show.

I hear he is VERY pro-life, a co-worker said that once the mics are off, he is as red as it gets.

So what is the deal, can I please have some info...

Thanks!

What does this co-worker base this on?
I listen to Ed sometimes. Only when I'm in the car at the time and he comes across as a liberal to me.

1. He
is an ex conservative convert so he can at times be a bit odd. Its 0ne of the main reasons I don't care for his show.

3. To each is own.
But I don't think we should dismiss people for once being Republicans.

It that was the cause I'd have to stop talking to my parents and my aunt.

2. I can't listen to him. Wish I could.
He's still much too red-state for my coastal blood.

4. I'm not a Big Ed fan...
His attacks on Howard Dean, his ass-kissing of Joe Lieberman are bullshit. Then to top it all off he interviews, while he's in Crawford, a woman representing the Minutemen and just totally kisses her ass. Hey Big ed, why the fuck didn't you ask her about Neo-Nazi membership in the Minutemen? Did you miss those pictures that were all over the internets???? You know the ones of the Minuteman rally where they were proudly flying the Nazi flag... ass

to your question, but I think it would be difficult, if not impossible for any radical neocon to masquerade as a liberal without his head exploding. I used to think that some radical righties that I listened to were just playing an act, but after exchanging emails with a few of them, they were indeed as radical, sick and twisted off the air, i.e. Mike Gallagher. What worries me is that these radicals exist in our world and it's not an act. By the way, if a person if pro-life, is he not a liberal? I'm about as far to the left as someone can get, but still pro-life. Our next senator from Pennsylvania, Bob Casey Jr. is a democrat and pro-life, as was his father, former PA governor Bob Casey Sr. I don't think the pro-choice/pro-life debate should be the sole litmus test to determine what political category a person fits into.

9. Well said - I agree
But the words need to be changed since I know of no "pro-choice" folks that are not also pro-life.

The question is the definition and the priority - no one really argues for more abortion that I know of.

13. Welcome to DU!
I think Big Eddy is progressive, but every once in a while he goes off on a tirade where is is misinformed. Callers do correct him at times and he sees the light. Some of it is just used to get the callers riled up.
He does like military stuff and the minutemen, but he only knows what someone hands him.
In one of his rants, where he told of his wife, who worked at a mission, he came off as a converted republican. He was enlightened by her to some extent.

6. ...
He usually strikes me as more of a moderate. I really like his style (connecting everyday issues with the political idealogue) but his voice is sometimes irritating and shrill when he rants.

On his bio he claims to have "moved left of the center" upon meeting his future wife. http://www.wegoted.com/aboutEd/index.asp

7. I like Ed's show. Listen to it almost every day.
Sure, I disagree with him sometimes, but I also disagree with Randy, Al, and Mike Malloy sometimes too.

I don't expect to agree with anyone ALL THE TIME on every issue. I thought that's was what real Dems are like. Pubs are the lock step crowd.

I hate when people think you have to agree with them on everything to be a "true" dem.

8. He's a little "right leaning" sometimes, but he is pro labor and that
is enough for me. He is also critical of shrubya, which is an added bonus.

10. Ed could be a transitional object for recovering righties
He sounds EXACTLY like Rush, only without the lying and smears, and those red state noises he makes, including the immigrant bashing, is just enough to soothe the mullet-headed beast into listening a while longer.

Unless he's a really good actor, he has convinced me that he has left-leanings. He has shown real passion for issues that are important to the left. However, he is more moderate than I am and I was skeptical for a while, but I now believe he is sincere. I have one real criticism for him - he is much too soft on his politician guests. He doesn't ask the hard questions, he just kind of kisses up.

15. Ed is more of a moderate/DLC democrat than a liberal.

I still prefer he is on the air than Rusho.

but if you want a ear load of real liberal, you need to get Randeized! or Moloyed!

18. He used to be a Republican, but he's very pro labor and
pro union and this is where he's a good Democrat. However, he's hardly a liberal. A guy who says that he agrees with the racist Texans about the Minutement patrolling the border looking for illegal aliens because they constitute a terrorist threat is hardly a liberal in my book.

He may not fit everyone's agenda. I don't think he's fake though, just an honest mix. He is honest in his dislike for bush.
