Dependency on foreign oil is a national security threat
As long as we need oil from the Middle East, the more these terrorists are going to target us. That's why it is so important to explore alternative energy, but it's all about the oil industry lining it's pockets.

you can also say it's about the White House lining its pockets.

Even Bush's miserable, transparently self-serving energy bill calls for raising gas mileage by only two miles per gallon, and not until 2006.

MPG can be raised by many times that, but then the poor little oil industry wouldn't reap profits like its recent nine billion dollars in three months.

They are war profiteers, and so is George, Cheney, Condi, et al.
