"I started laughing on the phone. She didn't like that."

Bush's old school gives N.O. school a test
Alter name or face suit, principal told

Gary Robichaux, principal of KIPP: Phillips Academy, a newly converted charter school next to the St. Bernard public housing development, believes his staff has made considerable strides toward improving the long-failing urban school.

But perhaps not so much improvement that the campus might be confused with the elite Phillips Academy of Andover, Mass., the $33,000-a-year boarding school that graduated President Bush.

That's why the nasty letters and phone calls from the boarding school's attorney, Michele A. Whitham, came as quite a shock. The attorney threatened to file a copyright lawsuit.

Robichaux called her to assure that the two schools, serving opposite ends of the socioeconomic scale, one in the Deep South and the other in New England, couldn't possibly be confused. "I said, 'You can't be serious,' " Robichaux recalled. "I started laughing on the phone. She didn't like that."

-snip-
------------------------------------

and just listen to what Whitham said:

"Are you aware that President Bush graduated from our school?" Whitham said, according to Robichaux. "There's nothing funny about this -- we could go further. . . . And do you have the resources to fight this?"

yep BBBT&M: bully, bribe, blackmail, threaten, murder

1. Whattabuncha crap.
I'm sure there are thousands of schools with duplicate names. Although if I were the Phillips Academy in the Deep South, I'd change my name to avoid the embarrassment of any association with the history of bush's *cough cough* education.

10. He should have offered his deepest condolences
and then assured her the name association could only help her rebuild the high-dollar school's image.

6. Phillips Academy in New England should be ashamed to admit to having Bush
attend their school.

He can't even speak English properly.

7. That's insane!
Damn, don't they have a clue that you can't own every word in the dictionary and that no one could possibly confuse these two places?

I'd be willing to donate to their defense fund ... just because it's the right thing to do to show that arrogant bitch just how stupid she is.

Not everyone sucks presidential weener. With the exception of M. Lewinski, you and the rest of the republican party have that exclusive honor.

Just because you prefer to run your flag up the presidential pole doesn't mean everyone else should, dearie.

Oh, and to "fight" what? A justifiable legal fight or a vendetta? A vendetta would be great - it really makes you look like the shitpile you are, even in dim light.

If anything, the New Orleans Phillips Academy should change their name EXACTLY because you have ruined it by associating yourself with that pretzel choking tricycle wrecking word slaughtering moron war criminal the supreme court appointed to the presidency five years ago.

14. If the new Phillips was in Andover, or in Massassachusetts, or even
in New England she might have a case, but New Orleans?

I wonder how many "Washington Elementary" schools there are in the country.

OTOH, how many of them charge tuition of $33,000/yr. They're a business defending a brand name.
