These personal stories need to be out in the open so more and more people realize we're in a real war and people are dying.
While George vacations, our troops are dying.

To All of My Friends and Family,
Please take a moment to open this attachment. It is a picture of my
son, Jason, on the left, and his best friend, Joe Nurre. This picture
was taken a short time ago in Iraq.
Both Jason and Joe attended Sacrament State, roomed together, and on the
one year anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, both Joe
and Jason joined the Army Reserve.
One year ago, Jason was notified that he was being sent to Iraq.
Because of a snafu Joe was not activated. Once Joe learned that Jason
was being deployed, Joe contacted the Army and told them that if Jason
was going, he was going.
They trained together at Ft. Bragg and were sent to Kuwait on December
4, 2004. They went into Baghdad on Christmas day.
Several weeks ago both were notified that their reserve unit was being
replaced and they planned to come home this October. Jason and Joe got
an apartment secured in Sacramento, and were going to finish college
this spring.
Yesterday morning Jason phoned me from Iraq.
Joe was killed by a roadside bomb while in the area of the Samara Pass
with Jason's unit. He was 22 years old.
I talked to Joe's mom, Lee, a few minutes ago. She told me how much Joe
loved my son, she told that some of her son's best memories were when
Joe came to visit us in Park City a few years ago to go skiing, she told
me that Joe was thankful for the opportunity to spend time with our
family.
Lee is trying to convince the Army to let Jason come home for her son's
burial.
Her last words to me were that she prayed that Jason would come home
alive.
Joe was a good man. He watched over my son. I will miss him.
Thank you,
Mark Miller
