Did anybody see Dean on Leno just now?
I am disappointed in the interview. All Jay did was joke around with Dean. Nothing really interesting happened.

1. It was a great interview.
I don't care for Leno, but Dean did a good job. This was not a debate or a political forum, it was a right wing comedy show. Dean was good tonight.

3. I suppose
I was expecting too much. I was expecting Jay to ask him questions about his campaign. I suppose it was a good interview. The part where they showed a clip of Dean playing guitar for the Who was hillarious.

4. Feh
It's a comedy show. If Dean made 'em laugh, he did well.

13. That was cute (pic here), especially considering how well he's doing
with his warchest fundraising campaign.

20. I loved the suit story
Damn funny and it also fits me to a T.

I still think Dean could use some stage presence classes, on TV he nearly always looks intimidated, angry or indignant.

Now, I'm a big Dean man, and I have a damn degree in the performing arts, so this is not just me talking out my ass and bashing Dean.

In today's horrifically media-centric world, Dean needs a few lessons on how to behave on stage or on camera and he'll be electric.

6. He came across as a normal, interesting,
well spoken and funny guy. Appearances like this will come in handy down the road. When Bush starts spending the 200 million attacking him as a 'mean old Liberal', people will remember the Leno interview where he seemed like a really nice guy.

He did good.

9. And he didn't wipe...
...his glasses on someones sweater...

So was he saying Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas said they were supporters? That's cool. And one of Leno's staff...that's great.

7. I thought it was HUGE for Dean.
He came across as intelligent and likeable on a right-wing comedy show. Granted, Jay was pitching softballs, but for Dean to get at least a small part of his message out to THAT audience was fantastic!

10. Watching it now...
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 01:30 AM by imax2268
West Coast time...

I think he's doing very well...very well...playing guitar on the street I think went over really well...

It's funny...Jay usually panders to the right...but when they went to a commercial break...there was a commercial about Bush and Overtime cuts...classic...!

11. He did well
It was touching when he talked about how he received all of those little checks from "regular people" vs. Dubya getting those big fat checks from all those fat cats.

Great thing to bring up.

17. He did just fine -- alert, quick, friendly, clever, intelligent...
Leno's show is hardly a forum for intellectuals. It's one big lowbrow, career-pushing commercial.

That said, Dean was terrific, and came across as very personable and accessible. This kind of appeareance, although lightweight in many ways, is of inestimable value in humanizing the candidate.

And that certainly happened tonight. (Although not a word was spoken about the recall.)

18. How Can You Not LOVE This Interview?
Leno was fair, and if he seemed a bit nervous, it was probably due to the sausage remark. I think Leno actually liked Dean, and felt bad about the joke. The proof that Leno respected Dean? - Zero questions about his stand on positions that may be unpopular with the more conservative members of the audience.

Dean was right on his mark, joking about his "anger," about his trip to the Republican National Convention when he was 15, stressing his fiscal responsibility, his rural roots, playing footbal, hockey, etc..

The people who watch Leno will like what they saw in Dean, which is exactly what they had hoped for when Bush promissed them he was a "compassionate conservative." Dean is that socially compassionate, fiscal conservative.

This is the very kind of candidate that America wanted when they voted Bush, and--since Bush failed them on that promiss--Americans are still searching for that candidate.

Dean is that candidate, and he showed it to millions of Americans tonight!

Look for a bump...
