HOW MANY OF YOU ARE GOING TO DC FOR THE PROTESTS??
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 08:14 PM by growlypants
I'm just doing an informal poll. I'm going with 3 other people. And let me ask a question????? Do you know if you're allowed to camp out on the Mall in DC?? We're bringing sleeping bags because hotels are gonna be waaaay expensive and waaaay overbooked.

Taking The Streets Back From The Thugs In Our Own Gub-ment!

I will look a lot like this. So If you see a freakishly tall dude with a big rack of signs all festooned in flags, you've found me!

19. It was an awesome experience. Amazing to meet all those folks and
see how effectively support for this from around the country has gelled into a small city with all the necessities. Great model for future action. Grassroots power!

Operation Ceasefire Concert
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=3026

Art by Mike Flugennock of Sinkers.org
International recording stars Thievery Corporation are bringing together several notable musical acts such as Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, Le Tigre, Bouncing Souls, country music recording artist Steve Earle, socially conscious hip hop groups like The Coup, the rock 'n soul group The Bellrays, along with progressive activists/performers Head-Roc, Jello Biafra, Wayne Kramer of the MC5 and many others for a free concert on the Washington Monument grounds.

The concert is part of the three days of massive anti-war activities being planned in Washington, DC by United for Peace and Justice. It will cap a full day that starts with a late morning rally, a march through downtown Washington and an anti-war fair on the grounds of the Washington Monument. UFPJ is delighted to be working with the concert producers to add the event into the full program of the weekend.

For more information, see the Operation Ceasefire website.

20. I plan to be there!!
My 10 yr. old will have to come with me and he wants to fly. I want to try to ride the PeaceTrain. I have a friend who wants to go, but hates to fly, would like to ride the train or a bus. Some locals are trying to charter a bus and someone is offering to put us up, but in the next couple of days I need to make some reservations!

Peace.

23. Do you really want to bring your son??? I fully expect the police to
do something absolutely ignorant and violent as they have in last week in Utah and Pittsburgh. I'm actually bringing a gas mask. Yes, its come to that apparently

50. Either he goes with me or I won't get to go.
The older 2 want to attend, but they have a school function that they need to attend. My spouse will be taking up the slack with those 2 while I'm gone, but he can't take time off from work right now to deal with the additional 3rd child and getting him to and from school in addition to the schedules of the older 2. I suppose I could leave him home alone, but those pesky Children's Services folks would probably get a little upset if they found out about it.;-)

42. Yes they hold permits
I expect the Metro DC police to be as professional as ever. They deal with a lot of protestors and aren't as particularly trigger happy as other police forces that don't deal with similar situations as often.

That said I can see some false flag instigators attending as well, so keep your wits about you.

I haven't decided on a mask yet. Brainshrub had some kit tips on his site.

See you all at RFD!

27. Our group from Ft. Wayne is chartering a bus,
we have seats to fill on it at $75 each, roundtrip. Cheaper and quicker than Greyhound, I checked. Some of the charter bus companies are already sold out for the weekend.

We are leaving Ft. Wayne Friday evening and leaving DC Saturday evening, so we don't have to worry about finding somewhere to sleep in DC. We'll just sleep on the bus!

PM me if you want to go with.

44. Thank you.
I will try to schedule some time. I do need a vacation, and maybe I could arrive early to visit the Smithsonian.

The last time I was in DC, I took a picture of RR waving to me on the sidewalk from his presidential limo. It was dusk, and suddenly all the lights changed to green on his route. Motorcycle cops were ahead, and one came real close to me on the sidewalk and shouted "Get Back". It was at that point that I took the lens cap off the camera.
