I'm still baffled by the steadfast 16-20% who always show up to support him on these things.

It's a bitter truth, but it's much better than asking another 2,000 to die because you're afraid to say enough is too much.

I saw one article today where it said all the military colleges have the lowest applicants in years. It seems like no one wants to go die for his wars and corporate globalism.

But the comparison was made to MonicaGate. But then, it was not only the Reptilican Noise Machine, but practically the entire (craven) so-called "Liberal Media" that was whooping it up. If the so-called "Liberal Media" is now slowly and belatedly picking it up, it's more like rats fearful of being the last to leave a sinking ship.

There is absolutely NO criticism of you implied in my response. We NEED such frequent reminders of the folly of engaging in unrestrained wishful thinking.

But GO, Cindy, GO!!

On edit: I just now disabled the URL, lest I be thought of as hiding behind the skirt of a heroine (Think Rosa Parks!). But it should be easy enough to reassemble it again. Print it out in multiple copies, and use them where it will do the most good.

18. To be honest, I don't have a great deal of faith in polls generally...
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 03:37 AM by dxstone
But 81% against blivet** on ANY matter is, first of all (and need I really say it at any rate?... ok!) REFRESHING INDEED!!!... not only that, but even as I am no expert in the science of crunching these numbers, and suspect that there are probably an infinite variety of ways of interpreting the ultimate results, still this 81% is immediately statistically significant in my own layman's mind as the ONLY instance I have seen, up to now, of such high poll numbers in ANY poll results the media has seen fit to inflict upon me, and those I love, over these past near-five years to PROVE BY ENDLESS DRONING REPETITION, again and again, that President Bitch is handsome, charming, caring, wise, rugged, capable, knowledgeable, resolute, inspiring, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent for lo, these many, many moons now...
So I do see where you're comin' from there...
But those are just the best dang numbers I've seen yet!

I do think this shift, if such it is, has a LOT to do with gas prices; that's the one element that's right in everyone's FACE!; there's no escaping that one...
Another example of how poorly these ex-CIA-holes have planned this ridiculous overreaching power-grab... maybe they should've at least kept THAT cheap no matter what, just to grease the wheels, y'know?

I tell ya, the world IS pretty scary lately--but also EXCITING... and I prefer to be hopeful while I still can. I just CAN'T WAIT for the day when I see these guys frog-marched off to Nuremberg, I'll keep dreamin' that dream as much as I can... they've left a trail of old dirty money and breadcrumbs and TONS of used condoms from fucking everything that moves in America, they left their prints on everything, they published their plans right out in the open, as if by the time we read 'em it's too late and they win anyway, hahaha...

The only thing that worries me on this is the fact that they are losing credibility and popular support so rapidly, yet seem utterly unconcerned about it... what's giving them such fiendish confidence, what do they know that we don't? What's comin' next, what's Plan 9?
Still, as long as things are looking rosy, I'm gonna whistle me a happy lil' song for a spell, I reckon... yup, don' mind if I do...

I'm smellin' ALL the roses now; you never know when one of 'em could be your very last...

45. As someone who does survey research, I was going to say
this exactly. Thanks for saving me the time. The key is:

"Random selection of those polled is necessary to ensure a broad representation of the population at large"

Without appropriate sampling methods (including weighting for appropriate probabilities of being sampled), you can't generalize these results to the population as a whole.

As much as we'd like to.... ;-)

Note that I wasn't able to vote. No idea why.

I wonder if part of this is because in the past, some people were afraid to say they were against the war.

65. Good point!
I read an article today about a study showing anger levels over gas prices and people are indeed getting very pissed off! People are not going to be thrilled with dumping more and more and more money into Iraq. I tend to think the money is a bigger factor for some who don't approve of Bush's handling of Iraq over the deaths. Sad, but true.

STILL 81% Against, 17% For and 2% DUHHH!

If you take away the 2% who can't make up their minds, the ratio is much closer to 5 TO 1!

More precisely, it would be a bit more than 4.75 to 1!

64. The online poll is not really that far from recent surveys
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 08:31 PM by ultraist
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8831425/

WASHINGTON - The deadly recent attacks on American troops in Iraq are increasing the pressure on President Bush to develop an exit strategy. The U.S. death toll from the war is now over 1,800, and a new AP-Ipsos poll shows the lowest approval yet for Bush’s handling of Iraq, just 38 percent.

The president’s fellow Republicans are growing nervous as they head into an election year

Hmmm...wonder what Repukes will turn on their lockstep party first?

If I recall correctly, approval ratings for the Vietnam War were around 38% right before it ended. Bush is in some serious trouble, particularly considering the Peace Movement is growing by leaps and bounds.

68. Wohoo..America loves Cindy and knows that she is on the right side
of this fucked up war.

No wmds,no Iraq-Al Qaeda connections,Saddam is locked up,freedom is marching right on out of Iraq and into Muslim Fundamentalism, and now our lying, psychopathic president is encouraging more of our soldiers death to justify and vindicate those who have been killed.

Not to mention many, many ways the $200 Billion and counting cost of the war could have been spent so very productively here at home.

It has been a long rip van winkle sleep for many Americans, but they are waking up and they are pissed!!!!

72. As I like to keep saying, it's time to bring out the cannons NOW.
And fire away at the White House (figuratively), AT WILL. NO FEAR.
