Public policy, he added, that is rooted in Scriptural truth....

"Christians make the best citizens because we don't answer just to local magistrates," DeHart said.

Those magistrates - and all public officials - are ordained deacons of God, Hostettler said. He cited the specific reference to civil government in the Bible, and extended the ordination to leaders of all backgrounds.

(U.S.) Rep. John Hostettler told area clergy that divorce on demand is as dangerous as gay marriage, and pastors' actions will be key to strengthening all Indiana families.

Speaking to an Indiana Family Institute program of about 25 people Tuesday at Crossroads Christian Church, the six-term Republican from Blairsville, Ind., said a greater emphasis of faith in public policy and partnerships with local churches could be the solutions.

Business on the floor of the House was halted for 45 minutes yesterday after Rep. John N. Hostettler (R-Ind.) accused Democrats of "denigrating and demonizing Christians," prompting a furious protest from across the aisle.

The House was debating a Democratic amendment to the annual defense appropriations bill that would have required the Air Force Academy to develop a plan for preventing "coercive and abusive religious proselytizing."

Hostettler, speaking against the amendment, asserted that "the long war on Christianity in America continues today on the floor of the House of Representatives" and "continues unabated with aid and comfort to those who would eradicate any vestige of our Christian heritage being supplied by the usual suspects, the Democrats."

Hostettler was in the news last year when he took a registered Glock 9mm semiautomatic handgun to Louisville International Airport as he was preparing to board a flight to Washington. The congressman, who said he had forgotten he had placed the gun in the briefcase, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and received a suspended sentence.

... he's the guy who introduced the Marriage Protection Act in the House. He was also miffed about a court ruling requiring the Ten Commandments be removed from an Indiana courtroom, and started whining to everyone that they should ignore the court ruling--including complaining to Bush:

"Hostettler sent George Bush a letter urging Bush not to enforce the court's order because the order, while consistent with past jurisprudence, 'is inconsistent with both the clear intent of the Framers and the Christian heritage of the United States.' Hostettler argues that Presidents can order the U.S. Marshals office not to enforce court orders if the President happens to disagree with the court's opinion."

But yet -- this sort of garbage IS being preached by the right wing ministers who are giving christ a really bad name. They are intolerant -- and believe that only THEY know the right way.

And if you get them in an unguarded moment when they think they are speaking to "one of their own" -- they will advocate for the execution of anyone or any group that doesn't believe as they do.

These nut cases have taken over the Republican part in Washington State -- and they are absolutely crazy. I'm sure that the WA variety will say the same things.

In the 1980s the religious wack-job crazies were working and planning and meeting about how to turn the US into a theocracy. So bushie just fell into this -- and he says some of the right words and listens to the very worst of these idiots -- and they think that they are bringing on the end times.

The difference is that now these nuts are willing to come right out and say these outrageous thing -- and no one will put them in the nut houses where they belong. They think they have "god" on their side.

In a way this is good -- because the normal folks who couldn't bring themselves to believe that nut jobs like this guy are being elected -- will hopefully wake the hell up.
