I wonder if Jesus had a sense of humor
cause if he did, you'd never know it from the way he's always portrayed. if he was a human being, he probably enjoyed a good laugh on occassion, and he was always portrayed smiling gently.

do you think he'd find pat robertson slightly amusing, or would he just be pissed?

i don't even know if there ever was a jesus, but if there was, i wonder if he'd be laughing at all of us here in the future who throw his name around all the time, and profess to know how he thought?

would he laugh at the gigantic vatican? would he laugh at jerry fallwell's fat ass? would he laugh at dubya claiming to be a christian while decreeing that children be blasted into meat?

ha ha

2. Sure he did
The early church just wanted to scare the hell out of people to keep them in line so they made all that stuff really serious.
Some say that Jesus studied Eastern philosophies as a child and if this is true he better have had a sense of humor.
I know many don't believe Jesus lived on Earth, but I don't see why it seems so hard to believe. I don't go along with all that was written about him, but I think he lived and was a pretty hip guy.

3. Do a Google image search for "Laughing Jesus"
You'll find a great many results. Some of which are quite nice drawings, too.

4. He laughs at things like kittens tumbling over balls of yarn
and grinning people bobbing happily in the surf.

So sez me.

5. I wonder if God finds religion humorous...

6. Since he had an affinity for children, I'd say yes
Regarding Falwell, Robertson, and the "Holy" wars, however, I'd say he's crying tears of blood.

7. Well, according to at lteast one Gospel, he was accused of being
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 09:48 AM by deutsey
a glutton and drunkard by the Pat Roberstons of his day; the religious establishment was really shocked that he attended parties with prostitutes and tax collectors.

You'd think he'd have to have a pretty good sense of humor to hang out with "that crowd."

8. Sure. He even liked puns.
"You're the little stone, Peter, and upon a big rock I'll build my congregation."

And calling the twins the 'sons of thunder' was probably a bit of humor, too.

Some of the 'woe be unto you' bits have a mocking edge--they weren't just rants, they were rather cutting at times. Straining out a gnat while swallowing a camel, indeed: sweating the petty things while petting the sweaty things, to to speak. (I'd give attribution, but I've forgotten who said it.) Although he never actually said *not* to sweat the petty things.
