Good morning, DUniverse.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Vince Whitacre (aka Whitacre D_WI) for Congress campaign and fundraising drive will be kicking off in Waukesha, Wisconsin's Bethesda Park.
If you're interested in attending, visit:
http://www.vince4congress.com/rsvpNow, we know Waukesha's a ways away from many of you, but you can still participate!
Starting Friday, Oct. 3rd at 8 a.m. CDT, we will launch the online companion to the kick-off right here at DU, and on my blog at
http://candidateswife.blogspot.com. OK, so by "online companion" I mean "asking for contributions." The fundraiser will last through Sunday (although you are welcome to contribute at any time -- even now); all contributions received or pledged by DUers before 9 p.m. CDT Sunday will be counted toward the picnic total, and toward Vince's very ambitious goal of $100,000 from individuals by the end of the year.
The paypal-enabled site, and mailing address for checks, is here:
http://www.vince4congress.com/contribute(Contributions to Vince Whitacre for Congress are not tax-deductible for federal income-tax purposes. Other disclaimers are available at the site.)
If you'll be sending a check, send me a PM or e-mail (info@vince4congress.com) so we can tally the amount.
Unfortunately, the language of cash is the only language Republicans such as F. Jim Sensenbrenner understand. By raising these funds, Vince will be sending the message that the incumbent is not entitled to hold his seat forever, and that real people, not special interests, are what good government is all about.
Thanks for your support, and we look forward to picnicking with you, in person or virtually.
