31. Drove to Wisconsin one summer with a friend to try and escape the heat...
We got to Chicago, went through the city heading north; before we got to the state line, we looked at the map of Wisconsin, saw how really truly far it was to the top of the state which is where we were heading to be part of an audience at a radio show, realized how far it was and turned East, went to Boston and then came home to North Carolina.

So I still have never been to Wisconsin.

Never did escape the heat, either. I think it was the summer of '94 or something.

36. Geez, that's quite a roadtrip. I lived in California for awhile,
& a friend of mine was moving/driving back to Queens, NY, & I rode with. Took the southern route as it was December & one of the states we drove through was North Carolina. It was during the night & all I saw of your state was freeway. What the heck was the radio show that made you drive that far?

It was just an excuse to do a road trip.

Even as we drove across Canada, we were burning up. (He didn't have a very good air conditioner.)

11. Worse than Nixon - unfuckingbelievable. . .
Link:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cenk-uygur/big-media-lie-people-l_b_6171.html

(snip)
Here’s the mainstream media myth that’s driving me crazy: Americans really like George W. Bush.

News Flash – George Bush’s approval ratings are at 36%. Those are pre-coup numbers. That’s when a politician in a third world country becomes so unpopular that a couple of generals decide to show him the door. Nixon at the height of Watergate was at 39%, three points HIGHER than Bush is right now. And people despised Nixon.
(snip)

I'm not sure why he's using solely Gallup in this instance.
He seems to use as broad a data set as possible, when possible. Perhaps Gallup was the only set of data available for Nixon.

Broadly speaking,” Gallup comments, “presidents who have had similar quarterly averages to Bush's most recent one did not show much improvement going forward …

“Clearly, Bush is off to an inauspicious start to his second term in office. He had average a 62% approval rating during his first term in office.”

And midterms are right around the corner. It's going to get very interesting.

28. would another 9-11 help or hurt the little prince?
if another terrorist strike of 9-11 magnitude were to occur in the u.s. tomorrow, i doubt that the country would rally behind him, the way so many of them did after 9-11...
at this juncture, another 9-11 would probably push his poll numbers into the teens...the low teens.

too. Maybe they're a little worried, but not greatly worried.

OTOH, they may also realize that they might not be able to get away with it -- too many people are onto them. We can hope (is there a smilie for fingers crossed?).

but the bastards did it anyway. Would they be dumb enough to stage a terrorist attack? I'm still not completely certain of MIHOP or LIHOP, but I will answer "LIHOP" on a poll.

Are they capable of staging an attack? Are they that stupid? Are the American people stupid enough to fall for it?

43. And we know how successful he was drilling for oil...
I think the fascists are at pretty much full-court press given what they've got now. Another terrorist attack that kills less than hundreds of thousands will likely turn more against * than for him, given the current polls.

One of the favorite fascists talking points is "but we haven't been attacked since 9/11!" If they can't use that anymore, the game will be completely up. They may try "The bombers were from Malaysia!! We have to invade!!" But with things as polarized as they are now, I don't think there's any way that * gets his numbers out of the 50s for the rest of his illegitimate occupancy.

47. Let's just hope that the Bushies aren't looking at the same thing and
plotting the next MIHOP domestic attacks. They'd like another trifecta: rise in polls like 9/11, excuse to bomb Iran, and exuse to declare martial law. I'll feel a bit safer after Congress returns to session. With them out of town, martial law would be an easier proposition for the neocon fascists.
