Anyone curious about what yesterday's protest against Bush at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers was like, there are some pictures up at Chicago indymedia:
http://chicago.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=31416&group=webcastI was there, and I saw at least one other person there with a DU bumpersticker. It was a frustrating protest in a lot of ways--that part of the city is built like a capitalist citadel anyway, and even under normal circumstances it's hard to find your way around. With uncooperative cops routing you through 3 or 4 different mazes till you finally get to the little playpen they've set up a block away from the hotel, it is of course much worse. We didn't see Bush or his motorcade, but we did see a lot of the donors walking out of the hotel, and there was a lot of yelling of "Shame on you!," which appeared to make little impression on them (most of them just laughed). Ah well, shame is clearly something they let go of when they wrote the checks. But there were some good signs, and some good street theater, including two Bush & Cheney puppets and a group dressed in orange hazmat suits carrying a missile labeled "Made in the USA" and a banner reading "Hey Bush, We Found Your Weapons of Mass Destruction!"
