Anti-Sheehan Family Sees Light
by AHiddenSaint
Thu Aug 25th, 2005 at 14:14:54 PDT
Children are always going to be the innocents of life, but even in war children aren't safe from Bush.

Hunt had two sons -- 5-year-old Caleb and 3-year-old Josh.

"They don't have any idea what's going on," Hunt's aunt, Pat Thomas, told WATE-TV. "They went to be with their grandmother, Joey's mom, and she was just holding both of them in her arms. And they kept saying, 'Why are you crying, Mamaw? Why are you sad?'"

If you saw these two kids how could you explain to them that their daddy isn't coming home anymore? Can you look in their faces and tell them the truth or a lie?

Spc. Joseph "Joey" Hunt, 27, of Sweetwater, and Sgt. Victoir P. Lieurance, 34, of Seymour, were members of the 278th Regimental Combat Team. Two other members of the unit on the same combat patrol were injured Monday afternoon southwest of Samarra when an improvised explosive device exploded near their vehicle, ejecting at least one soldier.

Cindy Sheehan didn't speak for Lieurance family, but does she now?

Andre Lieurance referred to Cindy Sheehan, the California mother of a slain soldier, who recently camped out in front of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, in opposition to the war.

"She didn't speak for me. Now she does," the father told The Knoxville News Sentinel on Tuesday. "I'm with her. I believe we were lied to. (My son) did what he was supposed to. Bush didn't."

6. I hear ya. I agree with your assessment. It's the most horrible way to
find out the truth. It's a national disgrace that bushn is still in office and hasn't been called on his lies by the national media. And I do believe they will eventually call him, just not soon enough, unfortunately.

9. Bush should have to personally explain to Caleb and Josh
why their father will never get a chance to see them grow up.

He should have to explain what "noble cause" it was that caused their father to lose his life.

Fuck Bush!

18. Up to my neck in school work. It seems they are laying it
on hard and heavy this semester, literally. The books must weigh 100 pounds. I'm hurting every day. I just had gallbladder surgery and I'm not up to par yet to be carrying so much weight. Otherwise, I've been coming in mostly on the weekends lately. I'm on a daytime schedule now, much to my chagrin. I can't stand mornings. I'm such a night person. It's not natural to be up before noon.

19. Well, I'm one of those who are laying it on thick.
Although, honestly, I'm pretty good at giving a moderate work load. I have problems transporting my books, notes, slide projector, etc. too. I actually resprained an old wrist sprain last week. The book bags on wheels that you can drag behind you can be helpful.

20. Please, take it easy. I'm just not used to having 5 classes at once.
This is my first full time semester. I'm used to 3 classes tops per semester. I checked out one of those book bags on wheels, but it didn't look big enough for my electronics book plus my regular notebook. I need something bigger than the one I saw at the school book store. I'll have to resort to sprawl-mart if I can't find some relief somehow. The bookbag I have now is wearing out and this is the first semester I have even used it. Two weeks and caput. I hate to see it get ripped and worn out this way. The zipper is busted already. It seems like every book I have except the English textbook weighs 10 pounds easy. Of course, I had to get a bunch of stuff for the English class, separate from the other stuff I already had. I figured while I was at it, I'd go ahead and get a miniature staple gun. I have always wanted one. They are so cute.

29. I'll just be honest...
And rant about what irks me about this.

They didn't give a rat's rear about anyone else's child being killed in this war. Your's, mine, the people's next door... Our kids could have been sacrificed in the ten of hundreds for bush's war and they were all for it.

Now their child has died, and "suddenly they see the light"?

Have we americans become so callous and dead in our heart to the suffering of others that the only way we can care about the blood and gore we are gleefully wading in is if it is the blood of our own children?

Sadly, I had predicted that the tide would turn only after each family in this country had been touched with the loss of a loved one due to bush's folly.. Because it's nothing but flag waving, patriotic jingoism and video game gore until one of our own dies.

I mourn, not for the loss of their child, one of 1800+, but for the loss of our soul and our humanity, for not being able to feel the loss of all those families.

Bush is not the cause of what is wrong with this country, he's but the most visible symptom. The noticeable anal cyst on america's collective ass. There's plenty of self absorbed "little bushs" out there, numb to the suffering of others until it hits us square in the gut.

Ok, rant over. Please return to whatever..

Peace.

10. Reading that kind of thing makes me so sad and angry at the same time.
I am sad that people's lives have to be impacted that way because of the greed of the few people in power that have caused this to happen and I am mad that not enough Americans can realize the truth of what is going on and that it takes the deaths of their children before some people get the message. The kids will be told the lie that threir dads died defending our freedoms and that is the biggest lie of all.

Just heartbreaking. I am so sad for all of these families.

The media has been working overtime to paint Cindy as the only GS Mom demanding answers. Good God, how many more will have to lose their babies before the collective voice is heard?

Thank you Cindy, for being the beacon in the night.

But I think it's pretty reasonable to point out the truth of the matter - someone they love had to die before they'd wake up.

...their children are fighting and dying for a lie.

and once their child pays the ultimate price, they will either "see the light" or remain blinded by their allegiance to bush.

30. Yeah, 'cognitive dissonance' is a real phenomenon...
No matter what these families might see or hear, the raw true is just too tough to bear. Until their soldier actually comes home missing pieces or in a body bag, they can only persist in their 'magic' belief that the Commander in Chief has some idea what he's doing.

36. Sadly, I guess that's human nature.
Much as I wish we'd all collectively evolve in stuff like this, I don't know what the answer is; it's so frustrating.

My Latin teacher put this quote up at the beginning of every year:

"The Past is Prologue."

How sad is that. This is way past politics and yet it seems that is all that really matters.

Truly tragic, what has been done, and this is somehow for the Common Good.

My Dad is turning over in his grave. He planted flags for years, and paid his dues. No way He would buy into this.

they were lied to, as all of us have been by this cabal. How does one explain it to the children he left behind.

Sheehan is a great pioneer. I think she's given more and more military families the strength to speak out. Not to mention starting to bring the country further out of its RW spell.
