Poll question: Which of the following is the greater act of treason?
trea·son n.
1) Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
2) A betrayal of trust or confidence

Given this basic definition of treason, and the amount the word is bandied about these days, which of the following examples of possible treasonous activity would you say is the MOST treasonous?

1. Numer 3 would be the only one that actually fits "treason."

8. I disagree...
1) Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
2) A betrayal of trust or confidence

The morons are not aiding the enemey or really betraying the country in the sense of treason by the first definition.

By the second definition you are correct but that one is to encompassing.

13. It is if it's a "betrayal of trust or confidence." That's the definition.
It's not the only definition, but it's one of them, thus it is true. If you don't like it, take it up with the dictionary authors.

3. #5 got truncated.
The rest of it should read:

"...tax cuts for the richest minority of Americans."

6. Add "Congress" to the first choice and I'd probably vote for it.
Definition 2 for treason actually fits most of the choices, too.
