I ask this because it's as if they go out of their way to protect the status quo and slander anyone who dares to challenge them. For example that David Sarota article stating that it's the media that wants war with Iran because it's good for ratings. Though, I'm not sure why that is as they are doing a horrific job covering the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You tell me.

1. This sounds stupid at this point. I'll go with "Israel want US to attack
Iran". The media ratings are down so far, that to push for another war they can't even send reporters to sounds dumb. Like you said, they are doing a horrific job covering the other invasions, why go with a third.

2. When revolution comes to the U.S. ...
The corporate media won't be simply reporting the story. They will *be* the story.

Ducking and diving the angry mob, at their doorsteps.

16. there's 300 thousand of them
and they need to be neutered (maybe 5 in the noggin, but only after quick, fair trial and guilty verdict by unbiased left liberal judges)
asap whenever law'n'order is restored..
tim russert! the new administration could auction off rights to the mediasluts....tim russert alone would earn enough to fix a pothole!

3. The Media is Corporatist
What else do you need to know about them?

Maybe the newspapers are better than TV, but they've still got the planted stories of misinformation.

5. i don't think ratings have much to do with it...
they are a corporate entity looking out for their best interests. It is we who need to accept the fact that corporate televised news is propaganda and seek alternative sources for information. Expecting them to change is like trying to get an apple from a pear tree.

6. I agree
They are dangerous, never watch anymore, hopefully enough of us will know better next time.
Their small brains concerned about ratings, If the US hits Iran I suspect there will be nothing left, and that scares the hell out of me.

10. It's not you. Consider this: General Electric owns NBC. . .
and GE is a prime defense contractor.

I would like to know who is buttering their bread? It could be very revealing if one knew who was benefiting from media lies.

12. Wide-eyed wonder at all things Republican, Squinty and Skeptical of all
things Democratic.

There are some exceptions in all media and then also:

Cable is worst
Tv a little better, and I have seen some good work on 60 minutes re Halliburton etc
Print better still, but still some bad stuff out there.

15. Go get your hands on this DVD...

It will talk a lot about how the media really is the major culprit in corporate corruption of our government today.

18. The media is a co-conspirator
They are obviously not covering the news of the day because they CHOOSE not to cover the news of the day. My husband commented to me the other day how all the actual "journalists" are disappearing.

A previous post has made it obvious to me - particularly the one about GE -that what we call "news" today is a loss-leader. The Corporate owners really don't care if news shows have ratings or viewers. They function as shills for a war-machine that pretty much needs endless conflicts throughout the globe to sell their wares. If you want to watch, fine, if not, fine. I think we can give up on CNN, MSNBC, FOX and the like. The only real news available today is on the internet, international sources, and a few US print media that are not yet cowed, be they few and far between.

Once again, I think our only hope in this regard may be Independent World Television - their vision is a news network funded solely by the contributions of individuals - no government, no corporations. This is a worthy goal.

Tonight on CNN - "Aruban artist displays his touching balloon animal tribute to Natalie Holloway"
