Bush still sinking

Another poll shows Bush's approval rating at very low levels:

At what point should a president consider resigning for the good of the country? Should he wait till he has lost the confidence of 70%? 80% 99%?

2. It all depends on if it's a president with integrity, or Shrubbie

If it's Shrubbie, as long as he has the support of Condi and Rove, he will assume he has a mandate, and he'll just be angry at the 99% of Americans whop disagree with him saying "They're just fringe whackos who don't realize how much support I have".

But yet, on the other hand, even though our leaders are theoretically supposed to be doing our will, I wouldn't want any president to make all decisions based on whether the majority of people agree with him/her. Sometimes leaders have to take very unpopular stances, if it's the right thing to do.

In this case, the asshole HASN'T chosen the right thing to do; but I still wouldn't want to start a precedent of presidents resigning every time their approval rating went below 30% or some other randomly selected amount.

Sometimes the majority is totally fucking wrong.

4. I know, ... sigh... I know

He should resign out of a sense of duty -- based on knowing that the nation needs a leader it has confidence in. He should be willing to put his own desires aside for the good of the nation. With soldiers in the field, we cannot afford to have a weakened, ineffective president.

But, alas, Bush has no sense of duty or partiotism. In his mind, it's all about him. :grr:

13. At This Point...

...I would even take another Republican over Bush as President, as long as the guy was moderate & not some neocon wacko. This country needs a stable, intelligent leader to get us through this period, not some unstable imbecile.

3. Harris Poll

40% approval.

This has been reported earlier. From the Wash Post report:

The Wall Street Journal reports: "President Bush's job approval ratings are at their lowest point of his presidency as only 40% of U.S. adults have a favorable opinion of his job performance and 58% have a negative opinion, according to a Harris Interactive poll.

"This is a decline from just two months ago in June when the president's ratings were 45% positive and 55% negative. Much of this decline can be tied to the public's opinion on important issues. The war in Iraq has climbed to the top of the most important issues list and the economy is now viewed as the second most important issue, according to the poll."

5. You'd think a President would resign

1.After failing to act to prevent a catastrophic terrorist attack, despite numerous warnings.

2.After lying to the Congress and the American people about Iraq's WMD in order to justify an illegal invasion, and then failing to find any WMD or WMD programs after months of intensive searching.

3.After promising that huge tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans would pay for themselves, when they instead resulted in record deficits and record increases in the national debt, essentially bankrupting the nation.

4.After promising to restore honor and dignity to the White House, then engaging in the coverup of crimes by members of his senior staff.

And that's just the first four that popped into my head.

-- but then I suspect that his handlers will keep the poll numbers from him -- and then show him their "secret" polls.

But at some point even bubble boy is going to get the idea that his numbers look real bad.

Hummm -- when will a "reporter" have the spine to ask him what he thinks about his low poll numbers?

12. Wait until pollsters begin to connect the economy -- especially gas...

prices -- with the war. Based on the grumbling I hear at the pumps, the public already does. Then you'll see Bush's approval ratings slide down the commode to the lowest ratings ever.
