Limbaugh blasts black quarterback
http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2003/10/01/limbaugh/index.html
-----
New ESPN commentator Rush Limbaugh said on the network's pregame show that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback do well.

McNabb called the whole thing "sad," but an ESPN spokesman said he didn't think the comments were racially biased.

"He was comparing McNabb's performance on the field to his reputation in the media," spokesman Dave Nagle said Tuesday. He said Limbaugh doesn't do interviews.
-------

Surprise Surprise, Limbaugh "Doesn't do interviews".

On another note, I thought Limbaugh was supposed to be a knowledgeable football fan? Sure McNabb had a couple of bad weeks to start this season, but that hardly makes his career a fraud. Also to claim that the media has overhyped McNabb because he is some great black hope is ridiculous. This just goes to show Limbaugh can't help himself. He thinks Liberalism is responsible for everything, including the overhyping of a black quarterback. Ever notice that Philly has no big play wide reciever or running back Rush? Where do you suppose their offense comes from?

1. And ESPN's ratings are up
I think Michael Moore is right. This country still has a big problem with racist tendencies.

2. Of course it was racially motivated.
Why bring it up if it has no relevance to him? Apparently it's a big part of Limbaugh's life -- otherwise, it wouldn't be a topic that he would feel so comfortable talking about on such a wide medium. This kind of topic may be normal for his little network of good ole boys, but it's shocking to the rest of us that it is even open for debate.

3. so ESPN is racist too, it seems
it is officially defending Rush instead of apologizing.

Anyone know anything about the management of ESPN?

5. Isn't that why they hired him. Hey, Racism is cool.
With his usual twisted reasoning Limbaugh uses the mythical "liberal media" to turn logic on its head: the only reason blacks succeed is because they are being "affirmed" by white liberals.

7. What an asswipe
If John Madden or Al Michaels had said that, he'd be fired already or at least been forced to apologize. And Rush would be saying the liberal media can't stand the truth. ESPN = Extra Stupid People Network.
