Is "Exit Strategy" the same thing as "Cut N Run"?
I mean really are we supposed to accept total silence when we ask what is their plan? Are American troops going to be there forever? If not what is it going to take to get them home? What sort of a plan is in place? That can not "aid the enemy" to just tell the people what sort of plan is there? No one is suggesting "Cut n Run" but unless we hear some sort of guidelines all we can say is if there is no "Exit Strategy" then bring our troops home now. I don't believe America signed onto this thing as a permanent situation. When will Iraqi military and police forces be able to do what American troops are doing. What level of competence are we looking for? When one hundred divisions are trained? When fifty divisions are trained? How many at what level of competence? What "Exit Strategy" is there? Why can this question not be asked? We want details. Something we can look forward to. check things off the list. Make a "Short Timer's Calendar" You know "Exit Strategy". Surely they have a plan??????

1. Platitudes!!
This is an administration that speaks only in platitudes and malapropisms. It is incapable of any reasoned discourse. Their messages are simple and simplistic so that they can "catapult the propaganda". They don't care if they say A=B one day and A<>B on the next. Why, oh why don't the sheeple see them for what they are?

2. When bush and his conservative bufoon supporters
say we will stay the course, they mean they don't know what the fuck they are doing or what they will do in Iraq. They had only one plan, get Saddamm, we will be greeted as liberators, fuck you General Shinseki, we don't need you or your plan, go retire now. As long as we are doing the job of "policing" and are giving no indication that we will stop such action, Iraqi authorities have no urgency and no reason to take that task over. No, surely they do not have a plan. The bush administration is cluster fuck number one.

A well thought military incursion, planned by "military" personnel and not political operatives like wolfowitz would have included an exit strategy and worse case scenarios. Today's iraq is what happens when you ignore military minds relative to a military operation. george bush is this country's number one cluster fuck. Meanwhile our kids continue to die while those who never served continue to wave their flags.

3. It's all about defining your opposition.
Noam Chomsky talks about it all the time - this is what they do. In debating, it's called a 'straw man'.

The thing is, if you have a *winning* argument, you don't need to do this, rather you simply argue your own case. It's when you have the *losing* argument that you have to restate your opponent's case in a distorted way that you then attack.

BTW, I've noticed this too - even on NPR. All the time just accepting as fact that everyone who's apposed to this occupation takes the position that we should withdraw immediately. That's such bullshit. The Bush administration won't even lay out "measures of success" that we can then use to say "ok, we've met the criteria we set, now we've succeeded." They won't even categorically state that we will not retain permanent bases in Iraq.

Utter bullshit.
