According to those two maps, if you look at things in a black-and-white view, all of the troops are "blue" voters. We all know that's far from reality.

8. Looks like large, heavily populated

urban areas, which tend to vote Democratic, have more people in the military than do rural, more sparsely populated areas. The chart looks just as I'd expect it to look. Don't you think?

7. It is logical to assume that the most troops would come from the most

populated areas, thus the most troop deaths would also come from those same most populated areas.
