Polls show volatility in Clark’ standing with Democrats
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 11:26 AM by batman
"Clark leaps ahead, then falls behind

National polls shows Clark loosing 6 points in one week."

Thought I'd post this before leaving for work.

I'm still undecided as to who I support for President-I keep 'waffling' ;)

1. Apples to Oranges
The Newsweek poll followed up on a previous Newsweek poll; Clark increased two points in the later poll, and opened up a slightly larger lead.

2. The error margin on the second poll is +/- 6
Error margin on the first was +/- 5.

Also it seems like a very small polling sample - only 349.

4. The headline of this piece is hilarious:
'Clark Leaps Ahead Then Falls Behind.' But both polls showed Clark leading. This was shoddy editing, to say the least. I wonder what kind of political bent this newspaper has.

5. Polls will fluctuate thru the primaries...
...I think what's most interesting about Clark is how strong a showing he makes coming out of the gate, chiseling away at the numbers of some of the "below 10" candidates, and reducing the number of undecideds.

7. not really out of the gate
He sort of parachuted into the middle of the field of play in the third quarter with well orchestrated fanfare begun at halftime.

Had he done any worse under the circumstances it would have been a disaster of some magnitude.

And he managed to land on my guy as he came to earth. Doesn't look like I'm going to 'get over' that one.

9. yeah he's easy to like
and Dean can probably just let the blush come off the Clark rose as I can't see him maintaining his momentum with zero or near zero substance.

6. Clark will fade as more and more dems learn the truth about him.

As more and more dems see through the draft Clark hype and look as Clark's real record of republican support and alliance with hard core neo cons, his support will decline.

I don’t think many dems want to trade one republican war monger for a republican war monger claiming to be a democrat.
