For the first time ever, I just spent $40 filling up my tank
and I have just a regular ol' 2001 Chevy Impala. Not some SUV. And I couldn't help get pissed at this headline on CNN's website right now:

BUSH GAS BILL
Pain at the pump
White House rocked by same energy prices as regular drivers.

This article has been around for a few days and I even commented on it back then. But it just pisses me off that the gist of this headline is supposed to make us think "well gee, the president is suffering too so I guess I can't complain". BULLSHIT. Us taxpayers foot the bill for their gas costs so don't tell me that the White House is "rocked" by these prices! You can damn well bet THEY aren't cutting back on their travel plans, but at $40 a tank, this is starting to fucking hurt!

1. Agreed. I doubt we'll see Presidential vehicles going fewer miles.
I'd say the same for ANY President too. Politicians, by and large, are in the system for themselves. Their pay, benefits, post-service benefits are too good. Naturally, since they keep giving themselves more all the time - if anybody believes they truly work for the working class, they're dreaming.

2. Just think how you'd feel being a long-hauler and filling up a 200
gallon tank.

4. Maybe Shrub should
ride his bike all the way from Crawford to D.C. since he thinks he is so good at it. It will give him time to reflect on how he is going to "get on with his life".

7. While I agree
that most polititions are not in it for their constituents, I don't think money is the motivating factor either. To be honest, I don't know of many politions that couldn't make more in the private sector.

What they are in it for is the power and prestige.
