1. five weeks in a time of war
five weeks of deaths in Iraq. five weeks not talking to a woman who gave him her first born son, five weeks when ameriKa cannot afford the gas to go on vacation, let alone take time off work, five weeks while civil war cannot be denied in Iraq, five weeks.............he sets the world on fire then sits around diddling himself.

HE WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

6. Agreed, but 5 weeks even in a time of peace and prosperity is
still too much. Can you possibly imagine the repub howls if Clinton had done the same?

If he is on vacation he cant shove anti labor legislation down congress' throat (i.e. CAFTA, new overtime laws, etc...) The longer his vacation the better off the American worker is.

8. Any pro-working people Democrats making an issue of this?
Going AWOL during a time of war is typical for Bush and might give the Democrats an opening. Not that they don't have a bunch of them. Not that they seem eager to take advantage of them.

12. But remember, he told us "It's hard work." It's work," It's hard,"
"It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard," "It's hard work," It's work," It's hard,"

would have to work 15 years to get that kind of vacation. Some people NEVER will have that much vacation. It stinks because people all over the world have more vacation than we workers in the US do.

16. It's worse than you think -he's spent 342 days at his Waco Compound so far

Not counting the trips to Kennebunkport and Camp David. Wonder how much this is costing us.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=1070529&page=1&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312

Aug. 26, 2005 -- President Bush is on pace to spend more time on vacation than any other president in modern times.

Today is the 342nd day he has spent at least some part of the day at his ranch, which means he's spent almost an entire year of his four and a half years in office at the ranch. That doesn't include time he's spent at his parents' place in Kennebunkport, Maine, or at Camp David.

If he stays at his Texas ranch until Sept. 3, as expected, the five-week stint away from the White House — the 49th vacation he's taken at the ranch — will surpass President Nixon's monthlong trip to Florida 36 years ago as the longest presidential retreat in the modern era.

Bush isn't the first president to take a lot of time off. His father, President George H.W. Bush, spent 153 days in Maine and 390 at Camp David; Dwight Eisenhower spent 222 days for 29 golf outings in Augusta, Ga., during his eight years in office; Harry Truman spent 175 days in Key West, Fla., over seven years; and Ronald Reagan famously loved his vacations, spending all or part of 335 days during his eight-year presidency at his Santa Barbara, Calif., ranch

15. He's the CEO - a perspective
From a Neocon-fascist point of view, America is a powerful operating franchise - a corporation. Literally. It's the Grand-Daddy of all the Enrons in this hemisphere and it's being run like Enron was run.

Them's the rules when you do business with the supra-national big boys. The laws of individual nations - including this one - are for the locals. War's just part of the day to day running of a global meta-corporation with visions of total market share. Soldiers are employees at the lowest level of disposable labor. Dead soldiers are spent fuel and moms like Cindy Sheehan should be proud their children gave it up for the cause. Then they should get on with the lives and go back to shopping. That's the clear unadorned message that's being sent anyway.

What we've been witnessing here is the lame-ass kid CEO taking his well-earned five weeks vacation with a blood transfusion and some yucking it up with the gang.

A perspective that gives it some logic - however bizarre.
