This is just before the Iraq war but I just heard about it and checked it out. According to Snopes, it's true. Just thought I'd post it here as a reminder - along with two other lovely quotes.

Claim: Former First Lady Barbara Bush said of the war in Iraq:
"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"
Status: True.
Origins: While niggling memories of the title of the film that took Best Picture honors in the 2002 Academy Awards might leave some to question the veracity of the purported Barbara Bush "beautiful mind" quote, the utterance was indeed the real thing. The former First Lady made this remark on national television shortly before the commencement of the invasion of Iraq.
