How Much Is George's Five Week Vacation COSTING US? >

Is there any way to find out? The information must be public record somewhere, right? The GAO? Can we find out what it cost last time? Any ideas?

He's bicycling on our dime.

"I'm kind of hanging loose, as they say," Bush said Tuesday before his first bike ride around the grounds of Tamarack Resort, where he's staying until Wednesday.

Bush spent part of the day with Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, though the state's top elected official wasn't always able to keep up with the brisk pace Bush set on his morning laps around the pine-studded grounds.

"Did they come by this way?" Kempthorne asked a uniformed officer as he rode past a checkpoint Tuesday morning about two minutes behind the presidential cycling pack, known as "Peloton One" in the jargon of White House security.

In cycling, a peloton is a closely packed group of riders who find reduced wind resistance by drafting each other. The presidential cycling peloton, however, bore a greater resemblance to a mechanized cavalry unit.

There were four other cyclists keeping pace with the president, followed by five forest-green golf carts, each carrying three men in military fatigues down the trail. Driving along a gravel road running parallel to the trail were four sport utility vehicles, three of them black Chevrolet Suburbans with electronic communications equipment and turrets sprouting from the roofs.

10. More than he'll ever know...
More $$$ in gas, more troops and innocent civilians in Iraq, credibility, respect, jobs, sanity, you name it. If I took off for 5 weeks, my boss would fire me. Maybe we should do the same for *.

BTW, Generic Other, those training wheels are priceless LOL...

5. Who paid for it when
President Clinton went on vacation? As I recall he stayed at the homes of friends. Did * give a political speech so he could call this an official event and we the taxpayers end up with the bill? To be certain if a Dem tried this stuff there would be all kinds of investigations into taxpayor abuses and it would be aired 24/7.

11. As I recall he only went for two weeks
because that's what the average American has. It would just be interesting to compare what they are themselves paying for. I would bet that the Clinton's paid much of it themselves and not the taxpayors and one of the reason he leaves to give speeches is so he can say it was 'business' and put the tab on us.

7. Why do you think it's called the "Western White House"?
So we the taxpayers are forced to pick up the tab for ** pig farm. ** never pays for anything, why should he when he can use our money for his self-indulgences?

9. "bore a greater resemblance to a mechanized cavalry unit"
that may turn out to resemble a George Custer cavalry unit.
