Why is it so hard to scrap up money to help feed

2. Not that it is necesasarily right, but the guy with the house get's help

because of the taxes he pays and all the other agencies his taxes and money support Like the power company, the sewer district, the water company. All this leads to more people being employed and paying taxes also. The repukes consider the homeless worthless because the repukes believe the homeless don't contribute anything to society. I believe that is one view. I have always wondered why there wasn't a "homeless tax" that just went to acquiring property and accomodations for the homeless.

They foster the idea that one must earn ones way into society by working even though it is they who continue the conditions that make it impossible for everyone to work.

3. The taxes paid by the homeowners has a lot to do with it, but, and

I hate to sound really cold and callous here, but the problem with the homeless is they need housing and feeding every single day and most people, both on the right and left, just don't want to take on such a problem day after day. Before I get flamed, I donate to homeless shelters and to homeless people routinely. I am not saying that ignoring them is right, it's just reality. I always think of the Joan Baez song "there but for fortune, go you or I". Being homeless could happen to any one of us.

we would have an extremely large homeless situation that would strongly impact our ability to educate our children & operate our business if we did not provide some safety nets for people who lose their homes

on edit--just how long does someone have to be homeless to deserve yr help, some people in florida have been homeless now for two yrs while waiting in line to get their homes rebuilt, but i guess they are not pitiful enough to warrant yr interest, i hate homeless porn where only the wino in the gutter deserves help, shouldn't keeping people from falling down be paramount, prevention always easier than correction
